Probably not. But then again, I'd probably try to talk my husband in to letting us keep the pigs as pets. I really want some farm type animals and he doesn't want any. He says they stink. I really want a cow, a horse, a pig and a chicken!

My uncle is an organic pig farmer - he has Lincolnshires, Gloucester Old Spots, and a couple of other rare breeds, and yes, he DOES eat them - coz they're yummy - he even cures his own bacon and hams! Bacon, ham, pork and he makes the best sausages - my fave is the Best Breakfast Sausage, with sage and black pepper - SO good!

Of course. You'd be quite strange if you didn't. Have you ever heard of a Jewish or vegetarian pig farmer? I don't think farmers get too attached to their livestock, they might name them "Daisy" but they'll still eat them.

of course!! Farmers should be able to distinguish between cruelty to animals and the production of meat. If he/she knows the animal was well treated and slaughter was undertaken humanly, there should be no conflict.
