go to Kay jewelers.......you can sign up for there store credit card and you could pick up a nice ring and pay nothing.....and you would have two months to come back to the store and put money down on it and then the rest would go on your card and you would have a year to pay it off free of interest....that is what my fiancee is doing now....it was super easy and they have tons of rings to choose from most starting at around 200 bucks....hope this helps.....:))

Depending on when you're planning to pop the question, you can get pretty good deals from your local jewelry stores around a major holiday: Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and Christmas.
We recently bought my wedding band for $199.00, and it normally retailed for $800.00. It was a Valentine's Day special. If you can wait that long, this would be a cheap way to go without risking quality.

Americus Diamond...certified beautiful rings. check out their website. or buy a ring with a CZ stone- but with the setting that you want- say invest in the platinum or whatever gold she wants and later replace the CZ with the real diamond.

I just read an article about this website..... www.idonowidont.com - it's a website that auctions engagement rings. Also, craigslist is a great source if you don't mind used items.

Anywhere really, its not about how much it costs, its about that the ring is her style and represents your love. Don't get anything that will turn her finger green, but you don't have to spend thousands on a ring.

look on ebay, it sounds weird but they usually have good prices and the rings are in good quality, a lot of times is a dealer selling the ring because they have back stock of it or it just didnt sell like they thought it would.

Look at different jewelry stores, sometimes you can find some really good deals. It would depend on how many carats you want.
