Wouldn't the oldest be the best? It's been around the longest? I take mine on the rocks, no soda or tonic, with a twist, please!

magellan, hendricks, and damarak are all wonderful aromatic gins just not from london and not the oldest

Of course not! Doesn't it depend on what you'd like? Everybody's taste is different! Bombay Sapphire is a newer gin and has a very flowery taste. Gordon's has been around longer but is not considered 'premium' yet some people prefer it. I really like '10' if I can find it!
