It is a journey toward being born again into a spirit and personality of reaching a level of harmony, and a new justice system of admitting that holding a grudge is unacceptable to your future neighbors in Heaven.
Jesus said, "If you do not forgive others, then, your father in Heaven will not forgive you"
That is the clearest verse in the Bible. Yet, without being born again into a spirit of harmony, it is impossible to forgive anyone who has hurt you.

It depends on which form of those words you use. Faith is used too many times as being a synonym of belief-- but there's more to it than that. Belief is just that, a belief. But faith requires an action other than just having a belief. That's why we can say, " An Act of Faith" in a Christian context. Like Praying, Fasting, etcetera. But if you use both religion and faith as nouns, as in ' a faith' and ' a religion' then they can be synonymous.

The question is not one of religion vs. faith, but more along the lines of relationship vs religion vs mere belief.
To merely believe that Christ existed in some form, irrespective of any religious preconceptions you may or may not have is simply belief. You believe that religious and secular texts that document His existence are relatively accurate; much in the same way that you believe such texts with regard to George Washington.
Religion takes that belief to a new level when you regularly perform some action or routine on the basis of your belief. I can go to church every week and not have a relationship with Christ. I am religious in my routine of going to church if for no other reason than to go. Just as I could be religious about drinking coffee every morning on the way to work because I believe that it helps me wake up.
Christ, having been a person and based on what the Bible says, is still alive in the spiritual realm is the subject of faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. I have not seen God yet I believe He exists just as the Bible describes, just as much as I believe that you are a real person asking a real question. In math, this belief would be called a "given." It's beyond the realm of questioning. If you take your belief and trust that Jesus is who He said He was, and that His death on the cross paid a ransom for you, and that your belief in Him and His death and resurrection will permit you everlasting life with Him, then you have faith. That faith will then compel you to act and worship Him.
The short answer to your question is: it depends on what you do with your belief.

Faith not based on fact is fantacy... The True Christian Faith is based on the absolute certainty of God's existance and what God has done for the individual... so the Faith is that what God has done and will do is based on the Fact of what we know for a fact about Him... Jesus The Christ, when he walked this earth, was both Fully God and fully man...
"religion" is man trying to control the god or gods he has made up. and trying to dictate to, or to compel others to, obay the made up god or gods......
The Christian Faith is not man made.

Faith comes first. We cannot be saved unless we have faith. "But faith without good works is dead." True religion pure and undefiled helps us express that faith. Jesus Christ himself said, ..."Come blessed of my Father! Take possession of the kingdom prepared for you from the beginning of the world. For I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed me into your house. I was naked and you clothed me ..."
Peace and every blessing!
