I am looking into getting my husband some nice cigars for his birthday. I want to spend about $50.00 US since I am getting in A LOT of other stuff...does anyone know a cigar maker or company I can order them from off the internet?
Plus, what makes a "good" cigar?
Thanks for the help....

What a nice birthday gift....one I am sure he will enjoy!

A few points to note:

I would enlist the help of your local tobacconist for two reasons.

First, If you already know some of the brands that your husband smokes, he/she could help guide you toward premium selections that would best match his current tastes and preferences.

Secondly, if you are looking to buy some premium cigars, there is alot of conterfeit cigars floating around the internet (if you do go with an online retailer, stick to one of the majors, Thompsons, JR Cigars, etc.). Also, some cigars I have purchased on-line did not seem to be the freshest or in the best condition.

With a budget of $50 you could buy him a variety of 5 or 6 really nice cigars. Some brands that I think consistently make good product are:

Padron Anniversario
Avo
Upman (especially their reserve line)
Arturo Fuente (Hemingway series)
Romeo Y Julieta
CAO
Dunhill

There are so many to choose from, that is why I think a good retailer could help you select a variety of "gems" in different styles and flavors.

Cigars are like wine...personal to taste. A "good cigar" is usually defined by the person smoking it. Personally, I enjoy Macanudo, Romeo & Julietta, Brazilia, Italia and Montecristo. Try this website and I would suggest getting some type of variety pack, so that your husband can try a few different types and decide what he likes. Also, you may want to include some type of a humidor for your husband, to keep the cigars taste and roll. Happy shopping!

I get mine from Cigars International (www.cigarsintl.com). Their prices are very good, and you don't pay state tobacco taxes if you order from another state. I recommend that you buy the best you can afford from an internationally known brand. An easy choice is A. (Arturo) Fuentes. I have never had a bad smoke from them. Otherwise, do your research on the net and ask your husband what he likes. You might also consider a sampler of different brands. There are always several available from the catalog, and often they come with a humidor. Good luck!

i think you should try to find someone who imports (illegally) Cohiba cigars....not from the dominican republic, but from CUBA. those are the best cigars i have ever smoked in my life.
