A planned, structured technique for studying.
For example:
Read the chapter aloud.
Read the chapter 3 times
Read the chapter, answer the questions at the end.
Read the chapter, answer the questions, check the answers with the chapter material, make flashcards of the important points and study them.
Use an audio recording system to record the first sentence of each paragraph in the chapter. Write an essay describing each paragraph.
Go over notes from class (making flash cards or audio recordings)
Meet with a study group - each member of the group is assigned to review one chapter and present it to the group, highlighting key ideas.

These are just some examples of study methods.
You could make up 100 more.

my daughter would type up her notes from class then go over them, crossing out anything she was sure she knew, then retype with notes with only the stuff left that she didn't know and repeat, working just on the unlearned material over and over.

The best, and most tried and true study method is as follows:

READ IT, WRITE IT, SAY IT

Read the material. White the material in summary (i.e. first sentence, subject sentence, last sentence. Say it OUT LOUD.

You won't forget it.

Every successful person I know who took the Bar Exams or Meds or SATs of any kind used this method of study.

Once you visualize anything, make a note of it, and say it out loud, it is in the learning part of your brain and you will not forget it when you see it in writing on a piece of paper (test).

Good luck.
