yes, its just fine. One tip though, if you are making pink batter, make it a little darker, or it will just look kinda dull when finished baking because the cake "browns" while in the oven.

It will be fine. The more food coloring you put in, the stronger the color will be. Make sure to mix the batter really well after you put the food coloring in, otherwise you may end of with a marble style cake.

It's fine to add food coloring, but just make sure you mix it quite a while to make sure it's even, and to make sure you get a decent color. In something so large, it's better to use the paste kind, not the dropper kind. I used a whole mini dropper bottle of (purple) color in a cake 2 weeks ago, and the color didn't come out very bright. Unless you're going for just a tint, then you'd probably be fine.

Yeah that will be fine all food coloring does is change the color, make sure to stir well so the color will spread, if you making a cake that has icing you could put food coloring in the icing as well

Yes, it should be fine. Think of red velvet cake - if you make this from scratch it includes the entire contents of 2 large bottles of red food coloring - and it tastes fabulous! What color are you going for? What kind of cake? I wish I had some fresh cake right now!

Food coloring is edible so you could definitely use it to dye the cake. It may hinder the taste of the cake, I usually use some vanilla extract and a small scoop of ice cream to help the flavor. You can also mix food coloring into the frosting, but it sounds like you want it to be more of surprise for when you cut the cake. Hope this helps and congrats on your baby!

You don't mind if i add to your cake will you? Have you considered putting in a pudding mix into the cake batter as you mix it? not only does it step it up a notch that also makes the cake even more moist and holds together even better.

Have fun with it and enjoy your Valentines day.

and happy valentines day to all who are on yahoo answers.

Yeah, it works great. I do it every year during Broncoss season. We always have orange and blue cakes. Just make sure you use white cake batter.

It sure is. You can put it in cakes, cookies, breads, muffins etc. If you are going for red you will have to use alot as white batter will make it more pink than red. Professionals use beet juice, but who has that! happy V Day!
