Tomorrow, I have a 2-day bus ride from Brooklyn to New Orleans, & I know there will be a lot of distraction, so I won't be able to read. What else can I do? What can I do to not be so uncomfortable & fidgety? It will be boring to listen to music the whole time, & I don't want anyone clicking & popping their gum in my ear. Earplugs don't help, & my mp3 player isn't loud enough to block out the outside noise.

Also, for traveling, I don't want to spend any money @ the Greyhound stations because the food is pricy. What cheap, non-perishable breakfast, lunch, & dinner meals can I take with me that won't take up a lot of space that won't go bad or spoil?

go to the bathroom before you board!

Bring granola bars, bottles of water, a sandwich that you can eat in first three hours with no mayo and wrapped in aluminum foil to keep it fresh, a trail mix container, and you can go to a store like one of the outdoor gear places like EMS and buy hikers' meals that they take on long term hikes. Will stay good and are light to carry.

Bring crossword puzzles and ask your friends if anyone has Bose noise cancellation earphones you can buy...they are super. I would also bring one of those little masks you get from the airlines to block out light so you can sleep or pretend to sleep when someone annoying wants to talk with you. Above all...don't leave bus to go to washroom while leaving your hand-carry luggage on the bus.... it may be opened or disappear.

To me, a little travel pillow is essential...a cheap older one from your apartment that you can just dump after the ride if you don't want to pack it on return...

Well first you can bring food such as water and some granola bars or if you have something were you can put ice in bring pop fruits (ofcourse in bowls or something) and sandwiches

Now on the boring part you go out and buy a cd player and buy a new loud cd conentrate on it or if you have a laptop take it and play games or if u have handheld games play them.

Ear Plugs and a sleeping mask.
Drink lots of water to keep from dehydrating.
Take some of those moist wipes to clean up with.
Don't talk to the strangers. A bus of people going from NY to New Orleans, must be interesting. :)

food: granola bars, fruit (just keep it from bruising), nuts, trail mix, pop tarts, slim jims, snack crackers. Even cheese can go quite a while withiout refrigeration.

as for activities: bring a book anyway - there may be enough quiet times as people settle in on long trips. bring along a big, thick puzzle magazine.

i come across that each time i'm on a highway holiday or an airplane I slightly use a million/2 the entertainment stuff i take advantage of! right here is the stuff that i in my view truthfully use (different than iPod cellular telephone etc.) -Magazines (i won't be in a position to study long books mutually as vacationing yet skimming via a mag is diverse) -magazine and pen to place in writing thoughts or make exciting lists (i like making lists it is lots exciting!) -exercising or yoga books (i like to devise out exercising classes in my magazine) and that's approximately it! quite some the time i come across myself staring out the window, basically spacing out. Or chatting with acquaintances :) Stuff I generally deliver that i do no longer use: -long books (too many distractions happening for me) -video games/puzzles -homework (i'm sorry yet i truthfully p.c. to relish my holiday :D)

Sweets. Twinky's, chocolate, jam and peanut sandwiches, ...

Most foods that are usually kept in the fridge easily survive two days outside of it. You can easily take a Bacon-Tomato-Lettuce-Sandwich or a roasted-turkey breast and cheese-sandwich with you if you spread it with butter instead of Mayo. Hard-boiled eggs are also a favourite of mine.

Make sure you travel in comfy clothes with lots of elastic fibres and have a travel pillow to keep your neck from twisting. (Mine is inflateable.)
