It's not gonna kill ya... but there's certainly healthier choices. Soda isn't "bad"... especially the caffeine-free varieties like root beer & sprite... but it's got nothing "good" in it either. Just water & sugar & some choice chemicals and flavorings. There's no nutrients, though there are quite a few calories (from sugar). Your body gets nothing from it (other than the opportunity to turn the sugar into fat).
If you drank juice or a smoothie or an energy-type drink, at least you'd be getting some nutrients with those calories. I was drinking a frozen mocha at lunch every day (which is also not the healthiest choice... but better than soda IMO, since it's got dairy in it at least), but we just got a Jamba Juice in town, so I've been getting fruit smooties instead. WAY better for me... and tasty too!

Well Sprite is not as bad as drinking Coke, but soda is not the greatest to drink. Ginger Ale is a very good soda to drink if you have an upset stomach.

Yes. Diet Soda is worse, although both are still bad. Many people who drink diet soda daily knows that its really bad for them and is addicting, kind of like a cigarette.

Bad. The carbonation is bad for your teeth and your body. Sodas dehydrate your body. You should drink twice the amount water. For every soda you drink double it in water. I can not stress the importance of water enough. I just finished the RN program at MJC. Here are some facts for you. -the body is 80% water, (not soda). -We need to drink at least half our body weight in ounces of water. 200lbs = 100oz = 4 liters. I know that sounds like a lot. We are used to hearing 8-8oz glasses = 64oz = 2 liters. So we need twice that when we aren't drinking enough. -You know you are dehydrated when you are thirsty, which means you are already 1 liter low. -Dehydration slows the bodies metabolism. -Water is a natural antioxidant, it removes harmful toxins from the body. -Lack of good ol' h2o causes day time fatigue. -And water plays a role in almost every bodily function. -Statistically, 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.

as delicious as it is, soda causes a lot of damage to your body when you drink it excessively. 4-5 days a week isn't TOO bad, but it is pushing it. the carbonations wears away at your bones, making them weaker. it also has TONS of sugar, which suppresses your immune system, making it easier for you to get sick. it weakens your teeth, too, cuz it wears away your tooth enamel, that can lead to your teeth becoming sensitive, if they aren't already. so just try to drink it in moderation so it doesn't mess you up in any way!

A few points for consideration:
1. soda is carbonated with carbon dioxide, the same gas your body expels when you exhale. If your body rids itself of it, why would you want to put it back in?
2. most sodas are heavy in simple sugar (glucose) which easily converts to fat if not metabolized immediately
3. the gaseous buildup that results from soda drinking forces stretching of the organs involved in digestion, leading to semi-permanent bloating about the midsection
4. the drinking of sodas daily wears away the enamel on front of your teeth, making them more likely to break and/or erupt in cavities which lead to infection
Drink it if you wish, but don't whine to me about the consequences when your health turns south.

i don't think so, if you only have 1 each day. diet is also worse because of the fake cancer sugar in it. i have a friend who drinks at least 5 sodas a day, everyday.
