Its perfectly normal in small babies, moisture builds up in their many creases and then irritates their skin, and causes friction. Adding more creams and moisture is only going to make it worse. It needs air, and to be left alone.

sounds like colic. My son had the same thing. It can be up until the baby is 6 months old. Do you have a swing? Try letting him sleep in that and see if that helps. My son was on Enfamil A.R. and this helped too. They have gas drops that you can buy that will help with the colic. They are unsure what causes colic and what the reason is for it. To my understanding it has to do with to much gas in the stomach. Don't feed them before bed. This can make it worse.. We also used Chamomile and peppermint tea for his bottles. It's not strong just enough ease the stomach. Peppermint is a natural antacid. We put 3 teabags per gallon of water. We made the water by the gallon so we wouldn't have to do it for each meal. Remember to heat the water a 1/2 hour before you are going to feed it to him and mix the formula. This way the formula will properly disolve. Test it on your hand to make sure it's the right temperature for the baby. Luke warm is best. If this continues I would take him to the doctor.

Keep the neck area clean and dry. Sometimes milk gets in there. It just can't be helped. Use some baby powder with cornstarch in it. Or just plain old cornstarch. Put the powder in your hand first, then using your fingertips, apply it to the baby's skin where the rash is. This should help clear it up in a couple of days. If that doesn't work, then go to the doc and ask if you need a script for a medicated powder. There are different types for different types of rashes.

My son has very sensitive skin and develops rashes EVERYWHERE! Moisture tends to build up in areas like the neck. Try using a sensitive-hypoallergenic soap, I use Cetaphil, under his neck throughout the day and keep the area very dry. I did this with my son and in a day or two I noticed a big difference.
Putting products like powder or cornstarch in those areas leave yucky clumps. The fragrance in those things might be irritating to his skin.

When my baby was around 3-4 months, she had a persistent rash under her chin and in the creases of her neck. It turned out to be a fungal infection and took many tries of different creams to clear it.
But first of all the nurse and eventually the Doc INSISTED it wasn't fungal. But it WAS after all.
Keep on at them until they try her on more creams.
Have you asked them about eczema also? May be worth a try...?

Could be prickly heat. Basically from the skin rubbing together. Try rubbing some baby powder on her neck and keeping it clean & dry. Creams & lotions won't help, because the skin is still rubbing together. Powder will keep the folds from rubbing together.

I agree with Liyah's Mommy. It sounds like prickly heat. Gold bond baby powder is probably the best cure, and keeping baby cooler could help prevent it.
