I've been seeing this guy for almost a month but he's already kind of possessive. He always has to be physically near me or touching me . . . my friends think our relationship could head towards abusiveness on his part. Is it too soon for him to behave like he "owns" me or could he just be affectionate?

k, here's some more details.... I've been night calving and last week got pretty sick. He offered to help me out and check cows for me so I could get some rest. Well, that lasted about a night and a half but the third night he didn't even offer to get up. Seems he just wanted to spend the time with me but not follow through with the help me out part of the deal . . .

At no point in the relationship a guy should think he owns a lady.

A possessive abusive personality would be trying to control every aspect of your life. He would not want you to have contact with other people especially the opposite sex.

Many women would love have a their man to pay attention to them.

Sit down with him and start understanding his history. You may have come from a family that did not openly exhibit affection where as it may be normal for him. Ask yourself what is really bothering you about his actions? When you know your own truth then you can more effectively deal with his.

Given your additional details he just seems to be needy. If you care anything for this guy give him with he wants when time permits. Make it clear to him your respect for him will be lost if keeps making promises he can't keep. Never forget communication is the most important actions to keep a relationship healthy.

That's called being possessive. Pretty soon he'll be telling you not to talk to or look at other guys. Your friends might be right. You don't want to be with a guy like that. Don't let it get to that point.

Not really enough details to answer that but it sounds like he may just be very affectionate. Maybe he can come give my husband lessons, lol.
