2 weeks, I love to send postcards and letters to the US using all the cool stamps. It takes 2 weeks maximum. I recommend you don't send anything of great value. Letters and even documents will get there safely.

Which city in China are you sending from?. Beijing & Shanghai, its really easy but maybe you can get your friends to write Chinese characters for the country of destination. Not everyone can read ABC you know.

It depends where in China your package is coming from. If it's coming from a city, then two weeks is about right. If it's coming from a smaller city or a small town or (worse yet) a tiny rural village, then it could take much longer.

The same applies if you are not located in a major urban hub in the U.S. Lately I've found the U.S. postal service to be worse than China's! In this regard, it helps to use ZIP+4.

There are ways to ship things from China so that they're trackable. Ask the person who's sending it to inquire at the post office.

My son sends me packages from Texas about every month or so to my home in Shanghai. USPS takes between 2 weeks and a month (one package took 2 months), while FedEx takes about a week. The reverse - from China to the U.S. - can be frustrating. Packages have taken 2 - 3 months using China Post. DHL and FedEx from China seem to take longer going eastward; I don't know why. The average seems to be around 10 days.

Costs of mailing from China to the U.S. seem to be very high for China Post. I commonly find the postage more than the value of the contents.

depends, there's several kinds of delivery but if you are sending a package, as opposed to a letter, it can get pretty costly. cheapest method for package is 2 month by boat. i shipped some souvenirs this way and it cost me about $50 for two boxes. had i attempted to ship one week express it would have been more than several hundred dollars.
