That all depends on how you travel and what nationality you are. If you drive and you are American you need a birth certificate and drivers license. That changes in 2008. Any other situation you need a passport.

Air travelers to Canada and Mexico now need passports after a new rule took effect in late January. Similar requirements for land and sea travelers are planned next year and electronic data chips will be attached to passports beginning this spring.

A spur-of-the-moment fishing trip to Canada or a spontaneous weekend getaway to Cancun could be more difficult now that passports are required for air travel to Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.

The regulations, which went into effect in late January, also may affect business people who need to travel to Canada to complete a deal or visit a customer.

Showing a driver's license no longer is enough when traveling by air to Canada and Mexico. Visiting those countries now requires a passport.

"We have had some clients talk about it," said Grant Sovern, a Madison attorney with Quarles & Brady who specializes in immigration law. "Some people may be taken aback if they fly for the first time."

He said the government has the ability to waive the requirement during the first few months. By next year, traveling to Mexico or Canada by land or sea also may require passports.

Sovern said the passport requirement is less likely to affect frequent travelers than a business, which might need to send someone quickly to Canada to complete a single transaction.

"Some of the reports lately have been that people are waiting and they can't get the emergency passports like they used to," he said.

Getting a passport usually takes six to eight weeks, but two-day service is available in Chicago for an additional $200 fee.

If you are planning on flying in you now need to have a passport. If you are driving in this year then you only need your driver's license or birth certificate. You just need some form of identification that has your picture on it. I would go to one of these website below to make sure. You also should read what you cannot bring in.

that's no longer banned in Canada. My daughter used it 4 years in the past. Prescribed by technique of well being care provider, offered in pharmacy. on the on the spot it replaced into about $seventy 5/month provide. if you're desirous to get it from London, it really is a felony drug and that's no longer a narcotic, so i do not see why no longer. it really is likewise very risky to apply without checking in with a well being care provider. Why do not you examine such as your record first?
