you dont even have to use DC shoes for riding bmx, you can use any shoe you want. skater style shoes just have more traction so they are preferred by BMXers

there might be a bmx-specific dc shoe, but it couldn't be much different than their skate shoes.

i'd imagine any shoes would work for bmx riding - vans used to be the shoe of choice in the 80's.

the unique element relating to the shoes used for BMX is the only. It should be stiff. The stiffer the greater effective. That way you do no longer loose any capability interior the shoes flexing, all of it is going into the pedals/crank/sprocket/chain/freewheel/wh... music floor.
