Could he not be getting enough to eat? I'm breast feeding, and I know I have a pletiful supply because he doesn't even drain the whole breast noramlly at a feeding, and only feeds on one side at a time. I can't get him to feed for more than about 5-10 mins at a time, then he stops by himself and seems content? Is this noraml? !st time mom if you can't tell!!!! Thanks for any help

Your son is just doing what comes naturally!
Night time feed are essential in the whole breastfeeding process, totally exhausting, but essential!!
You are doing everything right, he is just ensuring his supply remains plentiful for the daytime.
If possible try to have a rest during the day when he does to make up for the broken nights, I know how tempting it is to just hang the washing out, and just clean the loo while he is sleeping, but really all those things will be there when you are feeling a little more rested.
Enjoy him, this stage passes so quickly.

I'm not sure about the feeding, I wasn't able to breastfeed, my son is a very SLOW eater:) He didn't start sleeping for long periods of time until he was about 3.5 to 4 months old. Also, every baby has different sleeping patterns. My son will take a few hour naps during the day and sleeps for about 9 to 10 hours a night now. He's 6 months old. It may seem hard right now, but don't worry you'll get through it, I PROMISE. Have you tried pumping and feeding him a bottle at night? I know that when my son was breastfeeding he would only sleep for a couple hours at a time and completely changed when I started bottle feeding him. Good Luck.

My son did the right comparable difficulty. He began off at nighttime slumbering a 4-5 hour stretch, and then a pair of three hour stretches via morning. Then he randomly stopped and beginning waking up each 3 hours - on the dot. i grew to become into fullyyt breastfeeding my son besides. I additionally in trouble-free terms feed on a million factor at each and each feeding (i grew to become into informed the hindmilk has greater food). as long as he's gaining weight, he's high-quality so a strategies as meals is going. (i truthfully used to feed my son for 20-half-hour till he better acid reflux affliction (at approximately 2 months). Now if I feed him greater beneficial than 10-quarter-hour he pukes besides. If he's content fabric after 10 minutes, that's high-quality. in case you're nonetheless worried, burp him and then furnish it back. i comprehend they say breastfed little ones do no longer burp, yet my little guy constantly has.) infant sleep types exchange - my pediatrician mentioned it grew to become into ordinary. despite if that's any convenience - my son is now 5 months, a million week previous and slumbering lots greater valuable. He began infant cereal and purees approximately 5 weeks in the past and out of nowhere some week in the past he began randomly slumbering from 8:30pm-5:30/6:30am - and that's without needing to cry himself back to sleep. He has completed it approximately 5 cases interior the previous 8 days. His till now sleep trend have been precisely as you defined your son's sleep types - extraordinary, possible backwards steps from 5 hours all the way down to 3. yet he's now back as much as approximately 9 - so basically carry close in there and wait and spot. in case you're drained, attempt slumbering with him. i truthfully would do a million or 2 of his daylight hours feeds in mattress so we could take a sleep mutually (i did no longer p.c. to possibility waking him as quickly as I positioned him interior the crib - a minimum of no longer except i grew to become into properly-rested). basically prop him up on your arm together with his head interior the criminal of your elbow - i'm in a position to nap and feed him in that place and function in no way even come on the factor of rolling over on him. sturdy success!

It sounds perfectly normal to me. He may be going through a growth spurt. Sounds like you have a good milk supply.
