I have rosacea controlled through diet, but whats left is a red puffy nose. It used to be a cute skinny nose but the skin is raw, scaly, and gets infected easily. Any solutions out there, medical, homeopathic or otherwise?

See your doc for antibiotic therapy to get this under control. They can also try a cream called Metrogel when they prescribe the antibiotics.

Do you remember Jimmy Durante? He had that too. If I'm not mistaken it's a trademark of rosacea to have the bright red nose.

There are medications for it, antibiotic creams, but you also have to watch your diet...no booze and some other stuff you can't have...it really sets it off. The heat will make it flare too, so avoid the sun. Always wear sunscreen, and there is actual makeup for rosacea too but I don't know where it's available. Ask your pharmacy or doctor. See a dermatologist who can help give you the best med for your condition. I think you need to protect your face from the elements, especially the cold...it can be like a burn to your face as much as the sun can. Go to a ski store and buy one of those good black things that go over your head so only your eyes are exposed. They are usually a nylon and block the wind/cold (if you're in a cold climate that is). Big hats in the summer too!!!

You might want to talk to a dermatologist or you can go to a spa and have a moisturizing facial/treatment. Just make sure they are certified technicians at the Spa - k - if they are not they can make it worse. I used to work at a spa - and guys can sometimes be a little hesitant to have a facial. . . but they do it more then they admit. . . Have a cooling facial - it will bring down some of that puffiness. . . as far as home remedies. . . you can try some cucumbers on that nose :) . . . i know. . .i know. . .but it will help :) . . . don't put heat on that nose. . . warm showers will be better then steam showers. Good luck

The absolulute best thing is IPL, or laser therapy. It will "kill" the blood vessels near the skin that make you nose red. There are also treatments to help remove the extra skin and help shape the nose, but the are pricey, as is IPL. IPL is well worth the cash in my opinion. I paid $400 per session, but I was red as heck from forhead to neck. And I'm a poet and didn't know it!

My doctor prescribed MetroLotion for my rosacea. It's a lotion I put on twice a day so that my cheeks aren't always bright red. Works for me.
