I do, but unlike on this forum I respect everyone's opinions...

And of course, I'm a lot less aggressive in real life...

I mean, OK so we do have our differences...but it's not worth losing a friend for that...

I don't have many friends who enjoy doing so and the few I have that enjoy it I see rarely. However, the high point of my time at Mephit Fur Meet, which I attend every year (have since 2001) is spending usually half a day in the lobby with a Hare Krishna friend of mine discussing religion, quantum physics, theory of consciousness, and the nature of knowledge and ultimate truth. It's amazing. We usually get other people to join in and have a good ol' time.

Year before last though, we had some guy drunk off his *** come try to tell us we were evil for denying Jesus was God and spoke with such hate and venom that me and my Hare Krishna friend grinned to each other, then looked back at him and tore him to shreds. He finally stumbled away when he realized he was defeated and me and my friend just died laughing once he was out of ear shot and got right back onto the topic of quantum physics as it pertained to consciousness.

I never even discuss religion in real life except with my daughter or husband. It is, as you said, not worth it. It is a volatile subject like politics and can get too heated. People have a right (here in America) to their own opinions and I truly do dislike immensely when people try to force their religious opinions (or political) on me. Notice I did not say hate. I don't really hate anyone. I may dislike what they do or say, but I don't hate.

No. in reai life I have a job (not appropriate debate for the office) and then I go home to raise my daughter. Although me and my boyfriend will get into something about religion every once in a while (we have opposing views) but in the end it's all in good nature. We end up kissing and talking about something else

I respect evryone's opinion. I do not agree with someone who claims to be a Christian then misinterprets the Bible. I go to the scriptures and we get down to what is right and why we believe what we do. We can always agree to disagree but we do not just let it die without discussion. I believe that GOD wants all of us to carry out the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). These were probably Christ's last words on earth.

Study these scriptures and see what you think. To become a Christian:
1. HEAR - Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
2. BELIEVE - In Mark 16:16, Jesus said “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.”
3. REPENT - Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
4. CONFESS CHRIST - 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
5. BE BAPTIZED - Romans 6:3-4 do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
6. CONTINUE TO BE FAITHFUL - Jesus said in Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”
Send me a note if you have questions. I am anxious to hear from you. Have a Great day.

Sometimes, depending on the person.

For example, I'd never debate with someone I know is a fundamentalist because there would be no point.

I'd also never debate with my Methodist Minister father in law because that would be like stabbing myself in the foot being that he's an in-law, I want him to like me, and I get rather passionate about debates about ANYTHING.

However, my husband, and other family and friends I do debate with.

Every once and a while it comes up. I've never had arguments. It always comes to point to point and we always leave friends.
I do have a few friends that are upright Atheists.
As a matter of fact they are very good friends.
It has never gotten as ugly as some of the posts out here.

In real life I try not too. It always turns out as a loosing situation, and someone always ends up mad. I believe religion is ones own personal feelings, and I do believe that they should be respected for what they believe in.

Yes. I have lots of friends who are christian, jewish, wicca, and pagan ... and we discuss religion alot. The difference is that we're all respectful of each other and never look down on opinions different than our own. Of course, my friends are intelligent, educated, and have sound reasons why they've chosen the way of life that they did, so they can debate more readily than alot of people on here ... christians and atheists alike, and everything in between.

I am always open to a healthy discussion. Debate...well, people can get defensive as we see here daily.

But in truth, and I'm not religious and not godless, I have pointed things out to people using their own scripture and they have come back and told me I turned their world around. Not proud of that, but proud that I made them at least ponder their "Truth" for a second. I ponder mine everyday. Healthy.

Yes I do. But when I get into them in real life, usually they're intellectual. Unlike a lot of them here.
