My husband and I have NEVER once been together on his birthday. This is year 5 and with his military career it just always seemed that he was gone or something happened to prevent us from being together. His birthday is the 17th and I really want to do something extra special for him. That normally wouldn't be a problem because I've had 5 years to plan...but we found out that our friends are throwing us a baby shower that day. They had no idea that it was his birthday also, and its the only time they could do it because I'm about ready to pop. I asked the hostess if I could bring a cake for him, but I keep hearing that its a shower not a birthday party and you only give birth to your child once, and he'll have other birthdays...blah blah blah. So basically now I have to figure out what I can do for him. I don't want him to feel left out so I just need a couple simple ideas that I could do for him to make his day.
(p.s) we can't change the date of the shower

What time is your shower? You might still have plenty of time to do something for him after the shower..yes you only give birth to your baby once, but it's a special day for your hubby too! You don't want to start pushing each other aside because of the baby, that's a really bad habit to get into. So...you can either demand a cake for him at the shower or you can plan an evening together. As a fellow preggo, I know how tired you'll be after the shower, but I think it's important for your husband to celebrate his birthday. Most (not all) men feel a little cast aside when the s.o. becomes pregnant...Good luck and congrats!

Well. people can say what they want to say but the truth of the matter is, that is your husband and your baby. I would either incorporate the two together or think of other alternatives:
*Celebrating his birthday the day or so before. If incorporating the two is a problem.
Or...
The shower could go from let's say....2-5. Then you and your husband can celebrate his birthday afterwards. Generally, baby showers do NOT last all day and all night. Usually you give presents, play a few games, and eat snacks. There should be plenty of time for you to show your husband some love on his b-day.
Good Luck.......

Showers are generally early in the day, so there should be plenty of time to celebrate his bday afterwards. After you and hubby unpack the shower gifts and maybe take a little nap together to get refreshed, take him to a romantic dinner at a swanky restaurant. After dinner, you can come home and surprise him with a homemade birthday cake and cuddle for the rest of the night.

That's Bull. if you want to have a birthday party/baby shower then you should. obviously you may not be able to have his birthday with him next year, the next, etc. If it's a girls only shower it's a little more understandable, but it's your life and if you want to spend time with him on his birthday and have a cake... they can either deal or reschedule. (besides who cares if you have cake at the shower or not.. cake = YUMM)

She sounds like the fellow who's out of line. A split (no matter if she meant it or no longer) isn't the answer to a controversy. i'm getting the position she's coming from in the sense that you've been finished with the health club at 7 and hadn't even began making waiting until eventually she were given there 40 5 minutes later, yet that is likewise her undesirable for no longer being certain sufficient. that is clearly a communique situation you ought to enormously artwork on, yet once you've those issues many times, regrettably i don't think of this relationship would exercising uncomplicated.
