Good question, I'm sure you will get all sorts of answers. I would have shortened the question to "do religious people think?" ~

Its all a mater of faith. Science doesnt prove without a doubt that scripture is wrong. Science has proved itself wrong over the past and probably will in the future. We always think we know all the mysterys of the universe and then new evidence changes our perceptions. In my opinion science an religion are not comparable and do not prove or disprove each other. We dont know the answers.

Depends on how zealous they are.

A very select few believe that the bible is absolute and completely true. Most religious people believe that the scripture can be loosely interpreted (i.e. the world was created in 6 days, but those were 6 LONG days that extended a couple billion years!)

I think that the parts that they believe are against scripture tend to make them biased against the whole of science, but not necessarily every religious person rejects all of science. It varies a lot between individuals.

I agree that not all religious people are disagree with evolution and other scientific evidence that may not agree with our holy writings. Some of us are downright *gasp!* intelligent!

Personally, I feel that evolution makes more sense than man springing up from dirt (part of the christian version of creation) or salty cow nipples (part of the Asatru version of creation). But ya know, if I had to be a creationist, I'd go with the salty cow nipples. At least a cow is alive while dirt is a non-living thing.

The christians can't prove my gods and goddesses are any less valid than theirs without using the bible. Their god isn't mentioned in the Havamal, the Voluspas or the Eddas, sooooo.... You do the math, so to speak.

Don't you just love circular reasoning? I usually only use it against the boyfriend (poor, dimwitted, but good lookin thing) to get him to do the dishes; but every once in a while, I just cut loose! ;-)

Its all in the definition of science per se each individual religous segment. For example, the religious group of Sciencetology. The main understanding is to make a distinction between the man that Darwinism is referring to and the man religion is referring to Adam, two totally different people. If we had DNA of each it would not be the same person.

Mostly the parts that go against scripture and only when they go against scripture.

You often hear christians speak against radio carbon dating when it shows dinosaur fossils and such to be ancient, but when such dating reveals something to be accurate according to the bible (such as when the bible mentions a tunnel built around 700 AD and the dating shows it was built in around 700AD) then they see that as valid and incontrovertible proof of the validity of the bible.

So basically they hate science when it disagrees with them, and use it aggressively in the occasions when it agrees with them.

And as a side note, most christians don't realize that radiocarbon dating is an old and oudated method used mostly back in the 30s... there are over a hundred dating methods now that are more accurate, including potassium argon dating, many of which with a margin of error of only 0.01%

Do the followers of the "religion of science" think all science is right, or just the parts that fit into their own personal theory?

What happens when prominent, well known scientists state that the theory of evolution is not true, do they cease being scientists? 100 well known scientist have done just that. Check the links below. Are you honest enough to change your theory if the science doesn't match what you think it should?

Just the parts that are not proven, and please don't bore us all by saying evolution is proven. There are way too many scientists who disagree. You guys are free to believe what you want, but when you say it's proven, you sound foolish, much as we would if we said we had scientific proof of God.

Re above. If an attack on evolutionary biologists is an attack on all, then science is in a state of disarray. In seconds I can find dozens of articles written by scientists who disagree with you, with degrees from places like Princeton and Harvard. Now you'll tell me they don't exist. Who's head's in the sand now?

I bleieve that God has enlighten the minds of men. So the many advancement in science have been made because of enlightenment. There is some science that shouldn't be used to some extreme, but Science is good if we remember that God is to be thanked in everything.
