For "watching" 22 month old after he's went to bed. He never wakes up in the night and she has the option of watching him here or at her house, but all she has to do is sleep the whole time.
What would you pay for that?

You should ask around for what other parents are paying in YOUR area.

After you get this info...take into consideration who is the babysitter? Is this a 14 year old child...or a mother with children of her own? Is this a teacher or professional nanny?

Then...you need to talk to the sitter..to find out what they expect their rate to be.

If I have a teenage babysitter...I usually pay 5-8/hr depending on how my oldest reports on her...If she just sits around and watches tv...then I won't pay as much as the one who gets on the floor and plays.

(As someone said before tho..you need to pay enough that they come back for you when you need them!)

If its another parent...perhaps you can "trade services" , I'll watch your kid for 10 hours if you watch mine for 10. Like a co-op.

It sounds as if this is an adult you have watching your baby...and it sounds as if this is a regular situation....Do your research..pay accordingly.

Good luck!

I'd say $6.00 an hour. You really should pay a little more than minimum wage, after all this is your most prized possession. I don't care how great a sleeper a kid is. (I am a mother.) Eventually, they break with pattern and wake up. There is a little more than sleeping involved.

We live in Idaho. We pay $5/hour for the occasional night time sitter.

I pay $10/hr. I trust our sitter. I want her to come back. I really like her and so does my kid. I live in Chicago, I would say anywhere from $7-10, is good.

it depends in the area where you live, I live in Chicago and the average is 10 to 12 dollars per hr, but I know in NY the pay more so you should ask to your family or friends who already experience this

$3 maybe $4 an hour. When you think about it, you're paying someone to stay home (or stay at someone else's home) for a few hours and check in on a sleeping kid...there's really no "skill" or "work" really involved in that.

Depends on where you live. I have a sitter that works for $3.50/hr for that kind of sitting. I live in NW Ohio in a small town!
