I haven't used a babysitter in years. My husband and I are going out to dinner tonight and need to know how much to pay the sitter for watching our 4 year old daughter. Our 9 year old son will be there, too, but the sitter's brother and he will be playing video games all night.

For a 4 year old girl I'd say $5.00 an hour. I know some people on here have said no less than $10.00/hour for a baby sitter....but to me that is just crazy!

For my 16 month old I pay people about $5 an hour, or for a fixed rate of $25 for going to a movie or something. I think it depends on how the child acts. I, personally know, that my daughter is difficult when we leave, cause she's so young, so I offer a bit more. It's entirely up to you!

atleast 3 dollars per child, but the average national rate nowdays is 10 dollars an hour for a sitter. But i think i most area's its more like 7 bucks.

Wow, I haven't had to pay a sitter for my kids yet but from the looks of it, I don't think I want to. They get more than minimum wage! Rates sure have gone up since I babysat.
But to answer your question, I think $5/hr seems to be the average consensus.

We live in Idaho. We pay $5/hour for the occasional night time sitter.

Well if you guys are close like that the brother might be a teen ager i would give him about $40 since he is playing video games because by the time you leave your daughter should be ready for bed.

I would say probably $10/hr. But if you are only going for an hour or 2 make sure you give her around $40 dollars. Because then it seems worth it.

It really depends on where you live. My kids charge 5.00 per hour to babysit. Best bet is to ask your child minder how much she charges or how much she thinks is fair.
