No, it's not wrong, it's just a natural resource for which we have a use, like any natural resource used by any creature. The carbon dioxide we release into the atmosphere by burning it came from the atmosphere originally, we're just putting it back there. If the consequences in terms of climate change don't suit us, then silly us! In fact, natural gas isn't a lot of use for anything except burning, whereas oil and coal are rich sources of organic chemicals, including all kinds of plastic, that are not so easily obtained from other sources. It's a criminal waste to burn them, we will regret it.

it is the least harmful of the fossil fuels
it is methane 4 hydrogens (H) to each carbon(C)
it makes lotsa water and a little carbon dioxide (the baddie)
coal is the worst 99% C
gas (petrol) and oil is around half way
