Honestly i beleive no one can give you a average because there really isnt the right amount to say. It depends on if your guest decide to give you gifts or money, and if money than how much. But to give you some ideas from the past wedding i saw, three out of five couples got between 1,500 -2,500 dollars and had between 100-160 people at their wedding. If people are asking what you want or need as a gift say money, tell family and friends to spread the word that you would rather have money than any other gifts. Any gift would be great but money would be great.

It depends on where you live. If you live in big, urban area, like LA, San Francisco or NYC, people will give around $75 per guest, so you might end up with around 7-8K.
If you live in North Dakota or in the small Southern town, more like $30/person.
Make sure you tell your bridal party and family that you prefer cash instead of gifts, so they can spread the word.
I know how expensive weddings are - good luck, I hope you get lots of $$$$

Don't count on money as gifts. My husband and I got some money. But we got tons of gift cards. And most people like to still buy gifts...at least in our wedding the stuff we unwrapped outnumbered the cash a whole bunch.
Pay off credit cards...start with your smallest debt or the one with the highst interest and pay it off as much per month as you can. Then move on to the next one. Then the next one.

A lot of it depends on how genrerous your guest are. I usually give about $100. I've noticed that a lot of people don't even give gifts. It's unfortuante I know we don't have weddings to get gifts. Considering the effort we put into weddings, I think guest should be somewhat considerate when decieding on a gift. You will notice that those that are close to you will be generous, others it depends on wether or not they have ettiquete.

When I go to a wedding I always make sure the gift amount a give covers the cost of the meal (per plate cost) plus a little extra. However if people buy you gifts instead of cash that will make a big difference. Also close family tends to give larger cash sums but that depends on how much extra cash your family members generally have.

The wishing well-where guests who choose to give financially as gifts depends on how much the person can afford to give. You would get anywhere between $5 to as much as $100 the amount varies by your guests.

On average people usually give between $20-$50 as wedding presents. Now remember not everyone gives money. If you want to raise money at your wedding don't forget to do the dollar dance. If you do not know what that is, it is where the men at the wedding pay to dance with you and the women pay to dance with your husband. Get shot glasses and they each get a drink, if they do not drink alcohol, you can use apple juice too. You can raise a couple hundred dollars that way.

Up to $100 total. (!!!) I can't believe that you are planning a wedding and this is what you are thinking of. IF IF IF people end up giving money for your wedding, it is not to pay your credit cards off, but to buy things for you two as a couple. Geez Louise!!!!!
