Am I being punished? Why is the very opposite happening? Some cruel joke? The chances of running into him are so slim yet since I've prayed, it's happened several times against odds! What's going on here?

While normally prayer does not work at all, the largest controlled study (known as the STEP study) did show one odd effect. People who knew they were being prayed for actually had more problems than people who were not prayed for or people who were prayed for but didn't know it.

I'd give up praying and work on handling it yourself.

Neither a cruel joke, nor a punishment.
God is giving you an opportunity to reconcile with your enemy.

Your anger towards your enemy is controling you by putting limits on where you can and cannot go.

It's time to make ammends somehow.

Oh I don't think you're being punished, but I do think you're getting a definite message from God. One that he doesn't answer prayers like that , and secondly maybe he doesn't want you to be enemies with that person, but to try and work out your differences.

There is a verse that might help you:
Proverbs 28:1
The wicked man flees though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

Stand firm in Christ. And you will see the power of God unfold! I love this stuff.

Maybe God wants that person to come to him. Maybe he wants you to be the tool to bring him. Maybe its also a lesson to you on forgiveness. By forgiving your enemy, you show the Christ that is in you. That makes you the "bigger" person here...and plants the seed for the enemy to envy what you have. Ever thought of it that way?

No you are not being punished, but God is a sadistic jerk. If God really cared, he would use his power to answer your simple request. But instead he just sits back and watches and does nothing.

It is called spiritual warfare. When I read theHoly Bible and dropped Catholicism to become a Christian I learned just how real Satan and demons are.The more I preached to people the more my life became turned upside down.Things even out in time, but we must remember we are sojourners here, and we are promised hardship in this life, not the reverse.

Maybe he is wanting you to deal with it and pass the test. Or yes, the devils could be trying to put fear into you, but you need to run to God more it that is the case.
