Keep your cat inside (better for it anyway) or put the bird feeder in a place that cat can't get to.

Raise the feeders. I do not have a cat, but a neighbour's hides under bushes beside the feeders and occasionally nabs one - one who is stupid enough to go to the ground. Nature's way!

You can move it away from the house, like everyone else here said. You can then attach it to some pole or stake you drive into the ground. Use either a metal pole (I don't think you'd need to grease it), or use plastic to wrap around the wooden pole and then grease it. There's no way the cat could climb up that and get the birds.

Try changing your feeders or putting them in a spot where your kitty cant get to them. You could also try those things they put on to keep squirrels out . Its instinct for them to catch birds but its awful to see them show up with one in its mouth good luck.

Put a collar ( a stretchy one) on your cat with a couple little bells attached. This really works well. He will be announcing his arrival in plenty of time for the bird to make his escape.

Unfortunately once your cat has done it once he will keep doing it.Its part of his genetic makeup. One thing you can try is to install a window feeder. My friend has one in her kitchen and its really something to watch them come to the feeder.Just make sure you dont have a tree near the window that your cat can climb. Good luck!!!!!!!!

u could try one of those electric fence collars...put the collar on the cat and bury or lay the fence wire around the bird feeders...i think it wouldnt take but a shock or two before he would steer very clear of the whole shebang...BORN2BLOOMS ANSWER IS BEST BY FAR...BELLS ON COLLAR WILL WARN BIRDS...NO MATTER WHERE OR HOW U FIX FEEDERS, FEED FALLS ON GROUND AND BIRDS FEED ON GROUND.
