With drivers like you out there we are all in danger. what if it was your neighbors kid on a tricycle that you ran over?
At the very least you needed to get out of your car and look around to see what it was. Also you should inspect your car for damage before hitting the highway. It is unlikely that you downed a power pole, but you are still a careless driver never the less.

Whenever you even "think" you hit something, you should get out of your car and check, not just look in the mirrors.
What I want to know is, how could you have hit a pole or even a deer without knowing?? It would be really obvious.
You need to look in your mirrors and out the back window of your car while backing up. Maybe you need to take driver's ed again.

Hmmmm...seems like if you were backing up, you should have either:
(a) ALREADY been looking in the rear-view mirror, or
(b) BEEN LOOKING OVER YOUR SHOULDER AT WHERE YOU ARE GOING, for crissake!
That said, If you took out the neighborhood power, you would know it. Relax and think about how different a question you would be asking if Mom had called saying "Honey? Do you know anything about the dead kid on the tricycle in the driveway?"

Anytime you "think" you hit something immediately stop, put the car in park, get out and look. Then you will know for sure. If you did, and it seems to be a bad situation, turn the car off, don't move it, and call the police. That's for next time.

I'm pretty sure that if you'd hit a pole, or a deer for that matter, you'd know it - it's got to be a coincidence that the power is out.

have youlooked at the back of your car? Does it have any damage and if so, is it pole shaped or deer shaped... If not, then it definitely was not you, and if so, you have 2 choices, own up (and the electricity company would know where to look to fix the problem) or keep quiet.
Good luck!

If you are hitting power poles and are not sure about it, you should immediately have a driving exam and medical exam. Its not like you MAYBE ran over a sesame seed, this is a huge log you would feel it if you hit it.

You didn't stop, get out and take a look? You weren't the least bit curious as to what you hit, or whether there was anything there to hit? Run, do not walk, to the DMV / DVL and turn your driver licence in, please. The next thing you hit and don't stop for could be a child.

Don't tell anyone, if you did hit it and admit that you hit something the power company can go after you for the cost of repairs, I would assume that it was a rabid raccoon from now on\..wink wink... Good luck hope I helped
