I'm friends with just about ALL my ex's.
Just because you two split up doesn't mean there can't be a friendship.
So what I'm getting from people is there is no FRIENDSHIP inside a romance.
My parents always tought me that to have a good relationship you needa good FRIENDSHIP first.

Maybe you should ask yourself why it is you want to talk to this person again. There is a reason they are your ex. Maybe they have moved on in life and you havent yet. Instead of giving into those feelings do something good for yourself. Eventually these feelings will pass and you cant be open to meet a new and great person for you if you are hanging onto this ex. Let go and get on with the rest of your life.

What was the break up like? Was it a messy situation i.e was cheating involved or somethng bad? Or was it for a reason such as someone moving away? Depends how bad a terms it ended on. Also depends who did the dumping. How long has it been since you spoke? There are numerous variables to consider when thinking about it. There should be no harm in calling to say hi though, even they dont want to talk that is on them. Hopefullythat helped a little.

When you are thinking about calling an ex, as yourself a few questions:
1. Why do you need to talk to this person?
2. Why did you break up?
Usually people break up so that they don't see each other anymore. Calling exs can (not always, but usually) lead to complicated friend/lover relationships that are usually better off avoided.

This all depends soooooo much on how long & serious your relationship was, how you broke up, how long it's been since.... If you had a very serious relationship, and broke up recently, then calling would be awkward. But if it was a high school flame and you're in your 40's now, then it shouldn't be a problem to say hi, catch up, even if you both have other relationships. Anything in between, use your judgement :P :P

Awkward situation. I think if your ex is still single it would be ok to call out of the blue just to say hi. If your ex already has another girlfriend/boyfriend then you should never call ever!

It depends on how the relationship ended--amicably, and you two are still friends, then you can say hi, but don't be surprised if they interpret it as an attempt to get them back. If it ended badly, then keep it that way. I don't want anything to do with my ex, so I don't call him just to say hi.

Yes! It is perfectly ok to call an ex. I made that mistake B4 and if yal was in a relationship B4 then that made yal good frens (right?). That'll hurt alot if yal didn't keep that friendship going don't cha think? And it'll make your ex feel good too, to receive a call from an old friend. GOOD LUCK!

It depends - is it an ex-boyfriend or an ex-husband? To me an ex-boyfriend who is not in a current relationship is fair game. If he's been snatched up already, leave him alone. If it's an ex-husband - he'll call you if he wants to talk!
Best wishes!

It all depends. Sure, its fine to say hi! If you guys are still friends, then whats the problem? If you had a horrible break-up, then... I would recommend not doing it. You still can though, just to say hi. Now... if you're in a relationship with someone else... this wouldn't be a good idea.

Forever an ex!!!
What's your motivation for calling? It seems to me that you are still attached even though it was broken off. That, in and of itself, is unhealthy and should be avoided. There's no point to try to rekindle something that failed. Don't do it. Otherwise, there's no other reason to call now, is there?
