I need a tasteful yet simple recipe for a cheese sauce to put on top of steamed broccoli. Nothing too complex because I'm visiting my boyfriend, and his roommate (a boy). They don't have a large selection of ingredients haha. Please help =) thanks!

Chuck into a saucepan, some butter, some flour and some milk - quantities vary as to how much broccoli you have... Put it on the heat and make sure you KEEP stirring - have ready about a handful of grated cheese, with some salt and pepper, done in about five mins - to brown, put under a grill with a little more cheese on top!

I dont measure my ingredients when I cook but just cube up some velveeta... Probably about three or four ounces (depending on how much broccoli and how big of eatters the guys are). Melt in a saucepan over medium - low heat. Add enough milk to make the right consistency for your likings. Or I'm sure you can just buy a jar of Cheez Whiz... But I find it has a funky taste.

Cheese Sauce #1

1 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup dry white wine
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups grated Cheddar

In a small saucepan, over medium heat, bring the cream and the wine to a simmer. Reduce heat to medium-low. Cook, stirring often, for 10 minutes. Stir in the salt and the Cheddar. Spoon over cooked broccoli or cauliflower.

Cheese Sauce #2

2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
dash pepper
1 cup milk
1/3 cup sharp or mild Cheddar cheese
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
dash garlic powder

In a small saucepan, heat butter over medium-low heat. Stir in flour; cook and stir for about 1 minute. Stir in salt and pepper. Gradually stir in milk. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until sauce is thickened. Add cheese, dry mustard, and garlic powder. Continue to cook and stir until cheese is melted.
