I am sick, at home with a cold. Does this just sound like a normal cold, or is it bronchitis?
I have a stuffy nose, a sore throat, I can't really talk, and I have a fever of 101. But my chest doesn't hurt, so does that make it just a cold? Or could this develop into bronchitis?
Also, any tips on how to make it go away quickly? I don't want to miss anymore school.

Oh, and I've only had the fever since this morning. I have had a sore throat on Monday, and then last night I broke out in a fever. It's gone down throughout the day (101.6 F to 101.1), and I am taking Tylenol Cold.

I would say you have a common cold or the beginning of the flu. I'm just getting over something exactly like this. My doctor recommended taking aspirin or ibuprofen to reduce the fever and to drink plenty of liquids to assist with the sore throat. I took an over the counter liquid medication (Tylenol Cold) to help with the achy muscles and sore throat. The last time I had bronchitis, it was the result of excessive coughing....it turned into me barely being able to breathe. I had a raspy sound in my chest. To get rid of this, I finally had to go to the doctor and get a prescription. At any rate, get as much rest as possible and stay hydrated. Good Luck!!!!!

Cold and flu both have similar symptoms but generally a flu will be a little more severe including the fever and muscle aches. For most any upper respiratory illness (cold, flu, bronchitis, pharyngitis, etc.) the best thing for you is the standard rest and drink plenty of fluids. Viral illnesses will clear on their own. You can reduce your fever and other symptoms with over the counter medicines. I would go see your doctor if the fever gets much higher or lasts for more than a few days, or any of your symptoms get unbearable (high fever + sore throat may be strepp) Hope you get well soon!

Take some vitamin C chewable tablets (2 per day). Drink plenty of fluids. The sore throat and fever tell me it is more than just a cold. You may have to see a doctor to perscribe you an antibiotic. Try gargling with warm salt water to see if your throat feels any better. Get well soon!

Is that 101 farenheit becasue I work in degrees??? I get colds like that really often and you just have to let them get better by themselves. Get plenty of rest, if you are coughing up phlegm... spit it out! If your symptoms get worse then see a doctor. Take the break from school for granted =]
