If you're looking for a personal auto carrier, Continental Insurance went under years ago. They were bought by CNA (www.cna.com) and absorbed - but then about 7 years later, Allstate bought CNA's personal lines auto business and renamed it Encompass (www.encompassinsurance.com).

If you're looking for something specialized (big rigs, an agent, an independent) that just also happense to be named Continental, call your state's Insurance Commission. They should be in the blue "government" pages in your phone book.

They'll have a phone list of every company that does business in your state, but for some reason they never put it on a webpage. You almost always have to call.
