What reduces the appearance of scars? Also, is there anything to do to lighten the color of them? They are fairly new, so they look red-ish. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I've used Mederma many times. It reduces the discoloration and sometimes lessens a raised scar.

Mederma can work, but it takes a long time. 6 months of constant application to really notice the reduction. If they are turning red, then they will most likely turn purple and raise. Those are keloid scars. It is possible to get injections that will help reduce them. You might want to consider seeing a dermatologist.

Avoid sea foods, crab or shrimp, beef during this time.

To make scar back to normal skin, applying tumeric powder with little water over very fresh young skin is healing for 2-3 weeks, and keep it out of the sun absolutely by band aid. Far east grocery stores have tumeric powder or dry root (looks like ginger). Sooner better, hope not too late.

I've used Scar Zone for my C-section scar (which was red and raised), and stretch marks (which were a purple color) and it greatly reduced the color and texture of them over time (I saw resutls a week later). You can find this brand at Wal-mart for around $10 or here's a link to buy it online for $9.99 free shipping:

Hope I helped! Good Luck.

Depending on where the scar is.. it could be uber sexy.

Personally I'd definately be hot for a guy who had a scar that goes through his eye like Scar from Lion King..
Mainly because Lion King is like porn to me.
