By specs I mean what are the typical diameters of the invitation? What are the typical type of paper materials? Is there any embeveling? And most importantly, how is it made for RSVP use? I ask because I want to make my own custom design invites, but I want the typical size parameters to be used. If someone knows or knows somewhere online that has a picture of a standard RSVP wedding invitation, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

There is really no such thing as a "standard" size wedding invitation, but a lot of them are about 5"x8", printed on thick card stock with maybe a light texture to it, and they're usually white or cream colored with some embossed words. The little RSVP card is about business-card size and comes with its own little envelope so people can send it back. I think this website will help you out.

You can maybe get some ideas from the examples on this site.

Go to usps.com. They tell the dimensions for standard mailing pieces. Don't have the RSVP card be any smaller than those dimensions, and make sure the invitation fits those dimensions too. Some people like square invites, but they're an extra fee to mail, so most still go for the standard mailing sizes.

As for the paper weight, it's cardstock. It would be great if you had flexiblity in your papers, so customers can choose how heavy (and how expensive) they want to go.

First, decide what envelopes you're going to use. There's no point in making beautiful invitations if they don't fit any kind of envelope. Keep in mind the size requirements for acceptable mail by the post office (www.usps.com). Square envelopes will cost you more than standard envelopes. Also, keep in mind the weight of your invitations as that could increase the cost of postage. Beyond that, just make it easy to read and have fun making them--assuming you have plenty of time--as you can use whatever materials that spark your inspiration.

Go to a store that sells invitations and find one you like. Measure everything, even take a digital photo of it if you can, and duplicate it. This way you will know what you like, and can make something just like it.

Here are templates of traditional invites and programs, etc. Maybe you can get some ideas after you see the basic structure.
Good luck!
