one thing I have learned is USE BUTTER and not margarine
Also if the flour is too sifted the cookies will melt and if you cook them longer than the recipe says when they cool down they get hard. Also put them in a plastic container because that will keep them from getting hard.

You probably should bake the cake first because it will take longer than the cookies and each time you open the door, the oven temperature drops and could affect the cake's rising ability. Once the cake is out, you'll have a nice hot oven ready for your cookie pans. Usually 375 is the temperature for both.

when u make cookies if u want em chewy take em out a few minutes before they are done
