seems strange but for ur knowledge private airlines are extremely safe and the chances of crash are nil or less than 1 in 5000.happens with many ppl but remember air travel is by far the best and most time saving and if u believe me is quite safe too.Just be positive.

In 2003 the odds of dying in a plane crash in any given year were 1:392,000.

The odds of dying in a plane crash during one's lifetime were 1:5,000.

Obviously the odds of simply being in a plane crash are probably a little lower than that since some people survive plane crashes, but it's still not enough to be worried about. You have a greater chance of dying in a car accident, being murdered with a firearm or dying from falling down stairs.

EDIT: The stats quoted from the plane info site are even more precise than mine, since those stats calculate for commercial airliners while mine calculates for all air transport.

You stand a better chance of being hit by lightning than being in a plane crash.

My step-father has worked for Continental for going on ten years, flies several times a week, and has never been in a crash.

It happens far less than car crashes. You are less likely to die in a plane crash than a car crash. It's the safest way to travel.

you have greater chance of (1) slipping in your shower and hitting your head, (2) being hit by a car as a pedestrian or (3) travelling in a car.

Cars give us a false sense that "we" are in control. Planes seem scary because we're not in control (and have no sense of control), but pilots who have spent years and years of training are.

Very slim, the chances that you would be in a car accident are greater.

Automobile : 1 in 7.6 million
Air Place: 1 in 52.6 million

I think its not that likely, but its still a very stressful thing to go through, and noone should be pressured into it. It can be a very scary experience and you should let her feel comfortable with her decisions and shell come around when shes ready.
