i work for a company that povides laser eye surgery.
There are actually 3 commonly used methods for performing the treatment.
You can cut the top layer to laser, TOTALLY painless btw
A laser can do this, this is called Intralase
Alchol can be put on your eye and your eye will be lasered from there.

All the treatments are equally painless and sucessfull. ive had my eyes lasered myself and the results are FANTASTIC.

For most people, yes. Over 95% of people are happy to very happy with the result, even if it has left some degree of side or after-effect, and again, that's only a small percentage of people. (but if it's you, the incidence is 100%: you don't get a percentage of the problem.) The most common reasons for dissatisfaction are: Rx afterwards not as near zero as hoped Flare or glare at night, Dry eyes, temporarily or permanently. The more severe problems are very rare, but they do exist. I have had people I could not correct to decent vision with glasses or contact lenses, following laser refractive surgery. The odds are very good. But risk-free it isn't, which is why you'll be asked to sign a consent form saying you understand that. A sample consent form is below: just one I found on-line, I have no connection with the site or business. See also the FDA site for more information.

I had this surgery 4 years ago...best thing I ever did. They do have to cut the eye then they fold it back then use the laser to reshape the eye. Then they put the flap back over and it connects again. You can immediately see. Amazing.

I want laser eye treatmets simple because I need a perscription for one eye only and glasses are a pain...contacts will end up being a pain too. In the end (once I can get it) it'll be worth it! : )
