You can bring food with you to eat on the aircraft. You can only bring something to drink that you buy after you get through security.

They will usually just scan the entire carry on rather then just each item individually, although they do require you to take your laptop out if you are traveling with that.

If you have more questions I would suggest that you visit the TSA website http://www.tsa.gov/ they have the complete list of everything allowed on the aircraft in both your carry on and checked luggage.

While many of the suggestions you received were good...others are inaccurate. The front row does not always guarantee more legroom. It varies from airline to airline and aircraft types. The airport does not assign seats, the airline does. I would check-in on-line with your carrier and pick a seat that way. If you aren't sure, wait until you get to the airport and ask the gate agent for suggestions.
Yes, you can bring food. You can also bring beverages if purchased after you have cleared security.
As far as your ears....landing is the toughest if you have problems. Chew gum..if you have a cold, get the Sudafed. Blocked ears are painful and potentially damaging.
You are a first time flier? No emergency exit row unless you are comfortable assisting in an emergency. You will be asked by a flight attendant.
Your luggage is scanned and they are permitted to search it. I think it would be wise to go to the TSA website about this information.
There is always more motion in the back of the plane and yes, always crowds for the lavatories!!!
Have a great flight!

Yes, you can bring food and eat it.

Usually, they just scan your bags, but be prepared - they may go through it.

Seating: If you want a view, get a window seat in front of or behind the wing (over the wing = wing blocking your view). If you want comfort, I suggest an aisle seat in an over-wing exit row, which has more legroom. Don't get a bulkhead seat - you'll have a wall in front of you, no leg room if you're moderately tall, and may end up right next to one of the big doors in a high-traffic area.

Ear pressure: Chew some gum, if you have too. It's usually no problem at all.

Motion sickness: I've never experienced this, nor have I ever seen other passengers in great discomfort. If you're worried, pick up some pills at the stores in the airport.

Have a good flight!

Yes, you can bring food. The current ban (in the U.S. at least) is on liquids and gels, so no applesauce or juice or anything like that. You can carry on liquids that you buy within the airport terminal, but that's expensive, and they'll give you drinks on the plane anyway. They scan everything in your carryon first but they may decide they see something they don't like, or you may just be picked at random for extra screening, in which case they will take everything out and look through it. If that happens, just be patient and cooperative (make sure you get to the airport early enough that you won't be too rushed). Look up the latest list of items that cannot be taken in carryon on your airport website to make sure you don't have anything that they'll have to take from you.
I don't know if there's necessarily a best place on the plane for motion sickness or ear pressure problems, but it's fun to sit in a window seat and be able to see out. You can't see as well if you're right over the wing, and if you're at the very back of the plane it's usually pretty noisy and sometimes you can't see so well from there either. If you're in the very front row, there are no seats in front of you to put your carryon under, so you have to put them above you, and that always annoys me. But my dad loves it because you get more leg room in the front row.
For motion sickness, just take whatever motion sickness medication you usually take. You might not even need it; I usually get carsick but I've never gotten planesick.
For ear pressure problems, take Sudafed with you and take it half an hour before the plane is scheduled to take off. The worst times for your ears are take-offs and landings, so I always chew gum during those as well, and yawn a lot.
Have fun!

Yes, you can bring food on board and eat it. That is perfectly acceptable. Do not bring drinks. They will provide soft drinks or water on the plane. Your carry on will be scanned. Do not take any liquids or gels including make-up in it.
It is highly unlikely you will be air sick. The best place sit is in the first row because it has more leg room. Chew gum for ear pressure which is also highly unlikely. If you want a good view, don't sit next to the wing. Ask for a window seat.

If you're flying internationally no no food no water, you have to purchase it after you go thru security.

They may randomly search carryon bags, an item got stollen out my bag last november on my way home from m florida on SW. It wasn't costly, but I was not amused. The only time it was out my sight is when security had it. Don't know how a personalized gift with date of anniversary on it would be valuable to anyone else but nowadays I guess people will steal anything if they think it's of some value.

You probably don't want to sit at the back of the plane, the bulkhead is good but everyone wants that so you can stretch your legs out.

I usually sit just behind the wing. Turbulence isn't that bad usually.

You can bring food on the plane and eat it no problem. If you want to bring water on, you have to buy it after you go through the airport security line at one of the shops in the airport. Most of the time they just scan your bag, but you may be randomly selected to have your stuff gone through. Don't forget, only small bottles of liquid or gels (including lip gloss in your purse) in your carryons, and they have to be together in a ziplock bag and taken out of your bag at the security checkpoint. Also, take your shoes off and any jackets that you have when going through security.

Best place to sit? Near the front of the plane. It's easier and quicker to get off and it's quieter. Exit rows do offer more leg room though and I would choose a window seat if possible. It's the best for views and you can lean on the window if you want to sleep.

Exit row over wing window. Chew Bubblegum rather than regular gum. And if you can take some Airborne before you get on the plane and take more when you are off the plane. There are many germs recycling in planes.

All of the above is my regimen when traveling by air. It works!

Enjoy! Oh, and try to drink as much water as possible, low on caffeine and sugar. But, if drinking soda try Ginger Ale. And try not to drink alcohol.

Not much difference where you sit, but try not to sit in the very back, people bump you as they wait for the toilet and also the back of the plane with "swish" a little.
Bulkhead are really nice, but reserved for the airport to hand out to handicapped and small bablies first, you have to ask when there.
