Yep, crack will make people crazy.
If you aren't that close to him, then just don't associate with him anymore
If he's very close to you, and he means alot to you....intervention

The burning question is why do you imagine that a good friend should not get on his case? Your old friend (assuming he survives) will never be the same again. Crack profoundly changes people -- they lose their old identities and become something new (barely human). If you're absolutely certain he can't tempt you to try crack, you might try to reason with him. This will surely fail but you'll feel less guilty when you finally accept the truth and abandon your old friend. Your friend is in the process of dying a slow and painful death and you're in danger of being dragged down with him. Get out now, while you still can!
Been there -- done that.....

Yes, you have to disconnect from people sometimes because they will only try to drag you down with them because they are depressed from being an addict. Also he might steal from you because he needs to get high all the time. Just try to talk to him and get him some help if he doesn't tell him you can't be friends because you don't want to be associated with drugs.

stay away from him. because he will drag you down with him.
Ever heard of guilty by association. If he gets busted and you are any where nearby you are busted to.
My cousin was arrested for drugs. she was being a mule running them back and forth. after that i was hassled, harrased and and even assaulted by drug dealers and cops until I moved out of the state.
don't ruin your life. drop the crackhead.

Let him know that you are there for him when he wants help, but that for now you are going to associate with non-crack smokers.

A "good" friend would get him the help he needs. If you cannot help him fight his addiction, don't associate with him. Addicts can be very persuasive. He may try to talk you into trying it too.

Stay away from him. He is in a downward spiral. Your friendship could enable him to continue.
You could briefly tell him that you are disapponted in his actions and tell him that he can call you if he decides to stop.
