camcorders on the market are the best? Also are the camcorders with mini tapes known for better picture quality than just the straight regular DVD recorders?
I buy all my electronic equipment from Wallmart online because they always are the cheapest. The camcorder I have picked out now and will buy unless someone tells me different is the Canon ZR 700 mini DV camcorder. I'm also buying a Canon Pixma MP530 all-in-one office printer. Any other suggestions?

The Canon ZR700 is a decent entry-level camcorder, and fits your pricerange, which is probably its best feature. Well, ok, its zoom is probably it's best feature feature. But you probably already know that there are much better high-def cameras out there. It's just that they cost more. BTW, whether you're recording straight to DVD, versus DV mini-tapes does not have an effect on picture quality. But at your pricepoint, tape is still by far the cheapest way to get high quality video from your vidcam. Tape's primary upside is that you pay pennies for each megabyte of data, but it's biggest downside is that it takes forever to get the data off of the tape for editing, or even simply transferring onto DVD. For just a hair more money, you might want to consider the convenience of the Sony DCR-SR62 30GB Handycam, though. It is a world of difference in terms of the simplicity of working with the vid file after you take the video. It's hard-drive-based storage is lightning fast for transfer speeds, as opposed to the slug that is the mini tape.
