You can pop in to your local stylist and ask a question, or just come in for a hair cut and ask for tips. One look that I think looks great is if you blow dry your hair (never straighten it, it is really bad for your hair) and then using a two inch curling iron (or a smaller one for tighter curls) make ringlets. Then rub your fingers through your hair and you get loose waves. It takes about half an hour to do and looks great, keeping your hair looking curly, but not frizzy and yuck.
Here are some great shampoos to use if you want to keep your curly hair frizz-free and shining. have really curly hair and really like sunsilk brand, especially the green line. I use all 3 of the green line products, and once a week I use the pink mouse (it comes in a little tub). It is completely non-greasy and doesn't make your hair feel greasy, but it keeps your curls non frizzy. If your hair is more wavy then curly, I'd use the blue line, but the same thing with the pink tub. These products are available at almost all drug stores. CVS, most major Markets, etc. Easy to buy, and about 5 dollars per bottle. If you need to get rid of frizz, I'd recommend it.
Also, don't cut your hair shorter, let it grow longer. The extra weight of your hair will weight it down. I've gone down that route and it just makes it poofy. However, most importantly, make sure you embrace your curly hair. There aren't enough of us out there!

I also have very course curly hair (think horse hair) and I have been dealing w/ it for going on 15 years. My hair didn't get curly until puberty as if the mood swings weren't bad enough so I feel your pain. Actually I like my hair now it is also shoulder length and very easy to fix, I simply get out of shower pick it out make sure it is still quite damp and take a couple handfuls of mousse and scrunch throughout. Turn head upside down and repeat w/ mousse and then a few squirts of spray gel underneath and on top. Let airdry and once dry scrunch again if its to crunchy!! MY moussse of choice right now is Thermasilk and spraygel is Fructise but I switch it up quite a bit so hair doesn't become lifeless!! Hope this helps...

You can go crazy with purchasing/trying different products to tame your hair. I know! I think I've tried them all. Avon has a great product - Anti frizz capsules. It works on ALL hair types. Also, I recently learned that Sulphate free shampoos help control frizzs. And it is true that the less you touch your hair after washing the less damage will be done. Good luck!

Then why does your avatar have straight hair? lol
First of all, don't use hairspray, not only it pollutes the air but it's not good for your hair at all. Use Zero Frizz or Frizz Ease, they work for me all the time and they also smell good....they don't harden your hair either like hairspray does.
Second of all, you could try getting your hair chemically straightened. My aunt did that, and it's not super expensive and her hair was pin straight for more than a year. Even after getting it wet it would be pin straight.
Thrid of all.....that's it, there is no third of all. Good luck.

you can use a serum, citre shine is good, after you get out of the shower, use serum on your hair, use a reasonable amount to make sure it wont get frizzy, turn your head upside down and then blow drey. it will be really volumed but not frizzy, to decrease the volume, tie it up for about an hour or two and you will get a nice curly hair. thats how i do my hair. and i think, whatever way you choose to style your hair, you will have to use tons of products.

There are certain serums that you can use to help the frizziness go away... there is one by Aveda called Be Curly... Also try using leave in conditioner... another thing is, when putting product in, dont flip your head back up fast... do it slowly and down't blow dry... clip it up with a claw clip and let it dry on its own... don't touch it too much either.

I truthfully have one, yet do no longer use it anymore. between straightening it and dyeing it and employing chemical ingredients on it, My hair grew to become into fryed I had to get 8 inches cut back off and my hair textile cabinet informed me if I save on i visit lose all of my hair if I dyed it back or if I stored straightening it which grew to become into the main reason for the challenge. See straightening hair is undesirable for you reason over the years it fry's it, except you utilize a deep conditioning as quickly as a week and you do no longer dye it too generally, yet once you straighten it moist to dry it fry's it and makes it brittle and reasons it to break off.

Well the best thing to do is put hair spray and crunch it up so you can look like you just got out of the shower OR you can just straighten it!
