I currently am injured and cannot work, I am in college and I have a $2500 credit card debt, that is the total from all the 4 cards I need to pay off. I have very bad credit because I was paying these bills but got sick and injured. Now I want to get a loan and just pay it off and have one monthly bill, but where do I get this loan from with my bad credit, I tried prosper.com but got no bids? Someone please give me a solution. Should I consolidate the $2500 dollars or what?

If you already have bad credit just dont worry about paying it. The credit companies usually write it off as a loss.Although it goes on your credit report but will eventually go off 7-10yrs.I have many unpaid debts ,all they do is send letters or call nonstop so get a different phone, hope this helps

Look at the interest rates on all of your cards - pick the one with the highest rate and pay that down making payments as much over the minimum as you can, while making minimum payments on the other 3 cards. Once you're done with that card, take that amount and put it to the card with the next highest rate, etc. etc. until they're paid off.

Call the credit card companies and explain your situation and ask them to work with you. Tell them you want to honor your obligation but you're in a pickle. They'll work with you because they want their money back. Do you know your credit is bad or are you just assuming? See if you can get all cards consolidated onto one - that will make paying it off easier since you won't be splitting payments among 4 but putting it all to one; less interest paid too.

DON'T use credit consolidation companies - all they do is what you can do for yourself and they charge you for it. They're all a scam.

The key to paying down debt is just putting as much $$ on the card(s) as you can each month and not skipping any payments - you lose leverage if you do that.

Have you tried calling the credit card companies and telling them your situation? You may get lucky and they'll try to work with you. If your gonna try to get a loan, which is a good idea because of the interest you're paying for the cards, try it at a local bank where you live...they usually have the best rates. If that doesnt work, Id say dont stress yourself over it. Your credit is already bad so just pay what you can on them now and when you get better and can work again, then concentrate on paying them off. Good luck!

The common methods to reduce credit card debts are:

- Debt consolidation: This is the widely used technique to settle the card debt. You take a loan which has lower rate of interest to pay off the credit card dues.

- Debt negotiation: You try to make a deal with your lending bank so that you as well as your bank will gain from it. This leads to both the sides gaining in the process.

- Debt management consultation: Contact a debt consultancy and find a solution to your debt problem.

Using either of the above methods will help you in proper management of your credit card dues. This will let you be in charge of your financial situation, rather than allowing your bank to ruin your financial life.

It is my understanding that you can not consolidate less than $10K. Call the credit card company and maybe they will work something out with you. You should of taken the insurance the credit card offer so that if you are sick/injured and unable to work, they would required a payment for a length of time.

Good luck! Hope you are feeling better now.
