I was invited to my sister-in-law's shower by her sister and I no longer live in the area since I moved about 6 hrs away so I cannot attend and we also are not that close anymore we used to be, we even lived together at one time. I threw her a $500+ shower for her 1st baby about 1 1/2 yrs ago it was the most attention to detail shower ever I went all out for her, (since I myself struggle with Infertility) I love baby showers.

I am going to mail a gift card this time around how much should I send without being cheap or overdoing it?

She is my husband's brother's wife.

Money is always tacky. Perhaps you could get onto www.amazon.com/grocery or www.1800diapers.com and arrange to have a case of diapers delivered to her house for her every month for 6 months (both offer free shipping, it would probably come to about $250-$300).

It's her 2nd shower... I would probably just go to Target and get a nice little chenile blanket or something sweet and send a $50 gift card with it. Add a nice greeting card, and that's it. Don't over do it. It's really not needed the 2nd time around.

does she have a registry like at toys r us or babies r us honestly it's not how much you spend but the thought that counts Do you know how to knit or crochet? I did that for my sisters first child and she said that meant more to her that any gift I could have bought at the store I have also sent gifts from peoples registry and always got a thank you from them. again it doesn't matter the price the simple fact that you thought of her during this joyful time.

Well it depends on how much money you have. If you are poor like me $20-$40 is probably good. However if you make $150,000 a year a $20 dollar gift would probably be insulting, you know?

Also if she is registered somewhere you can probably shop online and then you won't have to pay shipping (most registries include delivery)

These are *really* cool, though they work better after the baby is born and named.

If she joined a baby registry, I would suggest you go out and pick something. It seems more personal since this is family.
If you insist on a card, I would suggest between $50 and $100.

dont send a gift card it looks impersonal.
Go to a store and buy lots of baby things that will always be used. like diapers, baby bath, a sleepsuit.

Also buy her something for after the birth, like a nice candle or something, people always forget about the mom after the birth!

That's a tough one, I would find something that she would like and either buy that and send it to her or I would get a gift card for that amount. Good Luck!

honestly i would send between $50 - $100 ... i mean prices these days that would get them several packages of diapers and formula etc etc.... Now if it were a friend or someone that you're not as close with or knew, I'd say less....Make your hubby chip in too...
Sorry to hear about your problems...that is never fun to deal with...heres hoping that things change and you too will have your shower eventually!!
