When you shift down to Low, these allow you to change from Low 1 to Low 2 to Low 3.
My Malibu has this feature. I did not know what it was until I read the owner's manual.

Oh, and if you have a Dodge, don't bother looking in the owner's manual for the term "tiptronic transmission". That term is a trademark of Porsche (licensed to Volvo & VW).

OK, here is the skinny. You DO NOT have a "tip tronic transmission" as stated before this is a dodge. You have a transmission that is equipped with the "Auto-Stick" feature similar to the tiptronic when you put the shifter into the lower position you have to manually shift the gears, just like a "stick" transmission without the clutch of course. This feature is very popular with men and teenage drivers who love to feel like race car drivers. Or in certain situations where traction is important, you can manually select a higher gear to take off in. Which in most cases if your car has auto-stick then it also has ABS and Traction control and then this will help prevent slippage during slippery take off. So in all reality, it's more like an expensive toy. and by the way if you do put it in "Auto-Stick" mode and you forget to shift, at 6250RPM the computer will take ove and shift for you, to prevent damage to your transmission and your engine. Auto-Stick will not be able to be reused until you shut off your vehicle and restart it. have fun

Congradulations! You have a Triptronic transmission. It is an automatic transmission that can be shifted like a manual, without a clutch.

Slide the gear shifter down to the + and -, to shift up move the shifter towards the +, to shift down move it towards the -.

This is really usefull in hilly areas.

I'm guessing you have a Teptronic transmission. What does it means???? This means that even your car is automatic it can driven as an standar transmission , the only different is that you don't have a clutch. When you change to the teptronic mode this means that you can change the gears manually + or -. I hope this is helpful to you.

Its the same as throwing a shift kit in your vehicle, gives you the opportunity to shift gears when you want to, not when the computer says to, of no real use unless you race or do a lot uphill and downhill driving.

the + sign means to raise up the gear and the - sign mean to lower the gear.
