Why does God not have to follow a higher standard of morality than the Pagan gods He's supposedly so superior to?!? If Baal ordered his followers to commit genocide, you would rightly condemn it, but if YOUR deity gives the same command, you make excuses for Him! WHY? Do you really not care whether your deity has better values than the others?

As a Pagan, I've said the same thing.

They are hypocritical. They rationalize it that their God can do anything he pleases because he is the only one. So if killing babies in the womb pleases their deity, then it must be righteous. If mass genocide was commanded by their God, then in their minds it is all good, because remember their God can do no wrong.

This hypocrisy evident even in the very symbolism that Christianity uses. "Washed in the blood of Jesus," wearing tiny representations of a corpse nailed to a piece of wood, the Eucharist where followers symbolically eat the flesh of a dead man! When people do this on film, it's considered a horror movie. Were a Satanist or a Pagan to claim that a man was murdered for their sins, that they were washed in blood, and that they ate flesh and drank blood, we'd be considered psychotic -- and rightly so! Cannibalism an almost universal taboo in humanity, yet Christianity is based upon human sacrifice (killing Jesus in order to turn away God's wrath from humanity) and feasting on the bodies of the dead!

Oh “redeemed”, how ignorant you are of Pagan religions. There’s tons of Pagan Gods who died and rose again. In fact, that’s where the idea for your deity dying and rising again was based on. Odin himself died and hung on the World tree for nine days and came back. So don’t go preaching nonsense about religions you have no familiarity with, you are just putting your foot in your mouth.

Little was know about Baal worship- aside from the many Scriptural references to it until excavations at Ugarit [the modern Ras Shamra on the Syrian coast opposite the NE tip of the island of Cyprus] brought to light many religious artifacts and hundreds of clay tablets In the clay texts Baal is referred to as lord of the earth and rider of the clouds Representations of Baal show him holding a club or mace in his rght hand and stylized lighting flash with a spearhead in his left. he is also depicted wearing a helmet with horns, suggesting a intimate connection with the bull
Baalism reached a level of degradationwith licentious fertility rites marked by sexual orgies of unrestrained debauchery, and baby sacrifice. When the Isralites entered the land of Canaan, with respect to the inhabitants of Canaan specific warning were given to Moses on MT. Sinai, to pull down their altars, shatter their sacrid pillars, and cut down their sacred poles Ex 34: 12-14 All appendeges of Baal worship were to be eradicated Would you allow baby killers to live?

Our God always has a good reason for everything he does. Look at the 9/11 attacks. While the attacks themselves were horrible, people became aware of their mortality. It is hard to explain, but look at it this way, God is our Father. He created us and wants what is best for us. Just like how an earthly father will let their child touch a hot stove (after warning the child, of course), sometimes God lets us learn the hard way. Also, God would never "order" genocide, He might cause a nation to perish, but the specific order of genocide, no.
Also, since we believe in God, we wouldn't listen to what Baal said, we would follow God and only God's guidance.

You are incorrect in your assumptions......But God loves you anyway. He understands how everyone feels because He created us. If you want to understand why God does things the way He does, you have to understand the mind of God and you cannot possibly do that until you surrender your life to Him. If you're looking for answers to life, that is the only way. There is no other way!!

It's all us versus them. You might as well ask why shelling Lebanon with tanks is condoned/condemned while shelling Israel with rockets is condemned/condoned. It's all in what side you ask. Total situational morality - the same lack of moral absolutes that supposedly infects Atheism.

there can not be "better values" with gods. Better for who? God? How about better for humans, since we set the standard of values in the first place. Believing in god is not better for humans, no matter which god you believe in. For it destroys the mind, thus destroys the life.
