Yes I do. I asked a family member the same question. She said the Bible is not easy reading like the books. I even asked, "Is not God's Word more important than the words of an author?" I forget her answer but it was not what I wanted to hear so I am saying it did not satisfy me. I have also asked how can you wear Ephesians 6 if you are not armed with the Word of God so you can quote Scripture?
Without knowing the Word of God a Christian is NAKED.

Daily Bible reading is a great thing to do.
However, I disagree with your statement..."Why can't you see it's just a ploy to get you away from the Bible?"
Perhaps someone would be willing to read these books that could lead them to reading the Holy Bible.
When you read the "Left Behind" series...it gives you an idea of what is to come.
Now, perhaps they will turn to the Holy Bible..and find out for themselves, what is really going to happen.
I enjoy reading Joyce Meyer and Max Lucado books. They have a gift with words that's easy for me to comprehend and apply to my life (Scriptures from the Holy Bible)...but I don't neglect my daily Bible reading/study for these books.

I've read the Bible several times... and I've read LaHaye's series. Although I'm a firm believer in the saving grace of God, and Jesus being the only way to eternal life... I think you are small minded if you belittle any avenue of permeating the worldly mind to lead that individual to Christ. Revelation is a difficult book, with many devout Christians differing on the mysterious portions left open to interpretation (ie. rapture/tribulation timing). But the bottom line is that (although it is fiction), it causes many lost people to have a way to make a bit of sense about the end times... and thus plants the seed for them to find their own answers in the Bible. Tim LaHaye will probably lead more people to the Savior in one week than you will in your entire lifetime. Please don't belittle any method that helps the lost find Christ. We all (Christians including Tim LaHaye) believe the same way to salvation.

To a certain extent yes, But not always, True History Reveals the bible, & if you are studying a certian man ministry you will have to read his book or life history, Like for instance, Knox, Calvin, Martin Luther, the reformation time period, You will find True history is right there in History & the bible. Even John Wesley

I don't read Tim Lehaye or any specifically Christian fiction, but I have to drop in my two-cents here. As a book-lover, I don't think that time spent reading is time wasted. It is time well spent. If more people read in their leisure hours, the world would be a better place.

I completely disagree, because most humans are knowledge seekers. Some of those books give you a better understanding of the bible. Can you say that you completely, 100%, understand Revelations or any book in the bible? You would be lying if you said yes. These books aren't written to take away from the bible but to add to your understanding and help you gain enrichment from it.

It is ignorant to not educate yourself with other books. However, the bible is the only inspired book, I agree. Reading other books is not wrong. Plus, some books are fiction for a reason.

I have not read any of the Tim Lehaye series. Don't only read Scriptures, follow it! The Almighty YHVH set up a system. He sent His “Son” YAHOSHUA to die for the sins of mankind so they would not have to. (They could choose to, but did not have to). Any person who chooses not to allow Yahoshua to take care of their sins, chooses to remain attached to their sins. They thus will wind up in the lake of fire which is YHVH’s method of cleaning this world, and eliminating sin and sinners. The Creator set aside the Seventh day for rest and worship. Yes that is the day usually called “Saturday”. We are not saved by obedience, we are saved by faith. However we are saved FOR obedience. As He said in John 14:15 (and in many other places) “If you love me, keep my commandments.

Bible is hard to understand. Example: The book of Revelations, bible scholars have been arguing over it for centuries. Why would you expect joe lunchpale to pick it up and make sense of it.
