I'm size 12 right now. Im only 5'3 and have a tiny bone structure so Im losing weight for my health and also to wear clothes I like.
Im shooting for size 4. For most of my life (Im 30) Ive been size 4, but I balloned last year after surgery and intravenous steroids to recover.
Im still have confidence, but guys treat me different.
Im still getting compliments on my face and breasts, but when I fish with guys Im dating they all sheepishly admit to liking slender shapely girls size 2-6 , 110 -130lbs.
Im frustrated because I feel like guys should just like me for me, but thats not the reality.
There is one guy Im crazy about but I know thru the grapevine that although he thinks Im cool and have lovely face/chest that he likes girls who are in great toned thin shape.
Why do guys get so excited about thinner girls ? Is it cultural , media induced ? Or purely carnal ?
Should I wait to date until Im in the best shape possible or keep looking for guys who'll like me as is ? Argh !

Because they are told by the media that they should, and they have no minds of their own.

Before I start feeling really sorry for you, tell me...TRUTHFULLY, now:

How many overweight guys did you date when you were a size 4? Ever turn one down because he didn't meet your specifications, or because you could do better?

Once you post that you never ever turned down a guy for too fat/too short/not cute enough and that your turndowns were ALWAYS for substantive reasons, then I'll turn on the sympathy.

Bill's Numerical Parity law says that most 10s date 10s, 9s date 9s, etc. If you're not dating a numerical equal, most go one up or one down...so a 9 would date an 8, 9, or 10.

Sure, there are exceptions to Bill's Numerical Parity Law. Usually, they're rooted in the uglier person having better life circumstances (money, fame, position, etc).

Don't believe me? Trust me, women would be a lot more willing to overlook my physical imperfections if my last name was Gates. Amazing how potbellied doctors have hotter wives than potbellied store clerks, eh? Anyone think Anna Nicole would have married that old guy if he'd been a Walmart greeter?

I bet if you look back in utter honesty, you'll see that you used your own physical standards in the dating game. Now you're falling short in others' eyes, and you want people to be less shallow. Gosh.

A man that is going to like you has to like you no matter what, just 3 years ago after I had my son. I was size 12, and my husband still loved me how I was, and we still had great sex. Then I started working out taking care of my self now im size 6. What I am try to tell you a person that is truly in to you they have to like you thin or thick. And the main reason you have to workout is to be a healthy person not to make any man happy. Do it for you so that you can look good always.

Not all guys are into thin women. You are just a little thick. There is a difference between being thick and being fat. Now, you said that you were size 4 but due to illness and your medications you were taking caused you to gain a little weight. It happens. Btw, I hope you are doing well now and not having to take all those meds. You are dating the wrong type of men anyway. It seems like all the guys you are into are just a bunch of shallow pigs. No one woman needs a guy like that. You need someone that is going to love you for you. You don't need to wait until you get back to a size 4 to date. Just don't date shallow losers who probably have really small d*i*c*k*s anyway...LOL!

honestly, I don't really understand why a lot of guys like skinny girls but I tend not to worry about it. I as well am trying to make myself healthier by regularily going to the gym. I don't think there's anything wrong with having some more meat on you though, it's healthy to eat (to a point).
If a guy doesn't like you for who you are, then there is no point in wasting your time on him. Keep going with working out and getting into shape but don't kill yourself doing it. Losing weight and becoming healthier should be a selfish thing, don't do it for anyone else.

to be honest with you .. you need a black man why because im black and black don't believe in that skinny stuff. we call you big bone but never fat and to black people big is beautiful.

to tell you the truth im into white men and i dont get it either. im not fat but im sure not skinny.....i have butt and hips but a small waist and i see some white guys seem scared of women with curves.

listen if a guy cant love for you or like you for you that not some one you want to be with a real man wont try to change you..

but you find some one just wait for it to happen dont look for any one

In part the answer is genetic........ its subconscious, due to desire to reproduce. what you'll find is that many people, both men and women are shallow. They are superficial. They are mentally and emotionally capable of only looking at the basics of a person, and fail to get to know what really makes people tick. Think of it this way, you are blessed not getting to much interaction with such people. Really.

You'll find that the more you do to become a positive person. Seeing the goodness and real value in yourself, and actively look for it in those around you is a wonderful way to start. Talk positively and think/act positively. Work aggressively to support and promote people and you'll find that 'you' are recognized for being good and wholesome. qualities that ARE real, that are tangible and have ZILCH to do with your physical appearance.

Certainly you should take care of yourself physically. A good weight is better for your mental, physical and emotional well-being, but don't let that be the end-all, be-all.

Also, its not the most modest thing to mention here, but its true.....study sexuality and find your 'zone'...... there are good people who'll appreciate and value you due to your open-mindedness regarding sex and sexual interaction.

I'd suggest you work to develop yourself, read, study, be outgoing and friendly. A good person will come along and see you, recognize you for the wonderful GEM you are, and that you have a positive direction to continually improve yourself.

I know that is what "I" find attractive.

Good luck and I wish you all the best!!!!!!!

Samantha, no, no longer all adult men are into skinny women. some adult men basically like women who're alluring despite if or no longer they seem to be a sprint heavier or no longer. And, confident, somebody a sprint heavier would have plenty which could make her very alluring, like, say, curves and shape. yet i does no longer p.c. to declare skinny or heavier is greater valuable. there is not any "greater valuable" except you're speaking approximately critically underweight or dangerously obese.

Hey,
Sorry hun but you cant be that general, life isnt black and white. There are plenty of guys out there who dont want stick insects and plenty of girls that equally dont want to be insects! Be who you want to be and be happy with it. At the end of the day a lot of scientific surveys have said that people are attracted to confidence......if you can put your hand on your heart and say you like who you are then you will find someone who loves you for you. Figure out who you are first, love who you are, dont listen to what other people say and someone will come along!!! Have faith.

you can blame the media, television, film... for this infatuation with thin. most women do not look like a fashion model. so if all the guys in the world clamour for the rail waif population, the population at large would be in a decline because not only would these women not be able to have natural childbirth due to narrow hips, there wouldn't be enough of them to continue the bloodlines of humanity. not to mention, these girls tend to go for the buff unintelligent so if you can imagine what that genetic strand looks like. darwin would roll over in his grave.

go ahead and start dating. a guy will be excited that you are motivated to lose the weight for yourself and for him. some men are pigs and only into skinny girls and big boobs and they are losers. Get a guy who is interested in you (personality, heart, how you make him feel) and not your looks. Then you know hes a keeper.
