I live in the US and I'm usually completely against government involvement in most things but child sex offenders are entirely another story. In the US we have the "sex offenders registry". The idea is great and all but it's horribly implemented. There is a list but it's never updated and no one ever checks the addresses like they're supposed to. It's just pathetic. The people on the list aren't all serious sex offenders either. Some of them are just guys who solicited a prostitute and you can even get on the list by getting caught having sex in your car. We need to make real laws about things like this and then stick by our guns and enforce them. It doesn't matter what country you live in, the entire human species should be more concerned about protecting the innocents in our societies.

I 100% disagree with Sarah's Law.
Don't get me wrong, paedophiles disgust me but this kind of 'name and shame' law will only encourage vigilante behaviour, which will in turn drive paedophiles underground. At present the vast majority of sex offenders (whether their crimes are against children or adults) are monitored by the police - this only works because they are not forced to reveal their whereabouts. If they were, paedophiles would disappear out of the system and we will end up with criminals completely unsupervised, and no doubt committing more horrendous offences.
We need to protect our children, as individuals and as a society, but this should be done regardless. I wouldn't leave my children with the next door neighbour anyway, whether I know he was a paedophile or not. And, please remember, that around 90% of these crimes are committed by a friend or family member, not the stranger from down the road.

I 100% agree that all parents should know if a paedophile is living in their area. When i was 13 and living with my parents, we had a paedophile living next door to us with his girlfriend. If we had all known, then my neighbour also 13 at the time, would never have been raped by him. (At the time of that happening he had been on trial for raping his 14 year old step sister and got away with it!!) He did a runner when she went to the police and 8 years later still has not been found! Thanks to the stupid law we have, my friends life has been ruined because of him, and how many more lives has he destroyed since!! Paedophiles should be hung by their bol**cks!! The law should be protecting all children, not the paedophile!!!!

I back it 110%! All paedophiles should be publicly named and shamed, all rapists too. These crimes shouldnt not go unactioned against, as it seems these cases are on the up, not down, we (as a country, nation, and world) should be doing more about it to stop these crimes happening. I feel great sorrow for the families who have had to suffer such bad traumaticities as a result of these crimes and feel that inforcing these laws would give a little more satisfaction in protecting others.

Totally agree with it, its a very scary thought to think you could live next door to a paedophile and your not legally allowed to know, the government in this country are backward and should be protecting our children not these monsters that should have acid poured over there genitals and locked up for life

I whole heartedly agree - we all need to know that information - how can we protect our kids while the law is protecting these sick animals. Personally i wouldnt put them in jail why should we pay for them to have the life of Riley when the children go through hell - i would put them in a room with no windows and just one door then let the parents walk through the door and carry out any punishment they see fit

i agree 100 percent if the government have a problem with people protecting their children then they should put peodophiles in the affluent area where they live themselves...im not saying that rich and priveliged people dont abuse or murder people..but im pretty sure that there are no such safe houses and bail hostels in notting hill...our children have 1 childhood and we dont want them cut short or ruined because of a small but deathly section of society..they say that it would run them underground..but as far as i can see theyve lost track of alot of them on sex register because they are not adhereing to the conditions set out...john reid the home secretary has no idea where some have gone nor how many...but ill bet theyre not holed up next to the private schools his grandkids go too

completly agree with Sarahs Law. if someones going to be a sicko enuf 2 do things to a small child then they surrender their human right for privacy. any1 who cares for a child has a right 2 kno where these pervs live. they suld be taken out 2 an island in the middle of nowhere n left 2 die. hanging is 2 good 4 them. they made the child suffer, so why should their death be relativly quick?
sorry...feel so strongly abt sicko's like them

We shouldn't even need these laws....
I say we petition the governments to impose life sentences without parole to all those who commit crimes of a sexual nature against children, the elderly and the vulnerable.
This way we reduce the risk of innocent people being hurt in vigilante attacks when these predators are realised into our communities.
Lock them up and throw away the key!!

initially, allow me state that all Adults got here across one hundred% responsible of "interfering" with a baby below a particular age might want to be hung, and all people got here across possessing indecent pc pictures of childrens might want to be castrated. in spite of the undeniable fact that, the making of persons previous lives freely obtainable to the commonplace public area fills me with reservation, and this can set a unfavourable precedent. allow's imagine that a house on the point of you got here up on the marketplace. might want to then you definately be ready to ensure in case your new ability Neighbours had previous? What in the adventure that they'd a conviction 15 years in the past for killing a baby by potential of Drink driving- might want to then you definately block the sale as you've childrens? this can finally end up being the entire Nanny State a lot faster than you imagine.
