I do think this Ban could be very good since second hand smoke has proven to be very dangerous. I do not smoke so I guess I am one sided on this. However it does make me ask a few questions....

#1 it said it would ban kids 13 or under from being in a car when your smiking..... Why until 13, arent kids 13-18 important also? Arent those the kids the try the age groups that watch every movement we make?

#2 Doesnt the smoke stay in the interior of the car when it is smoked in when the kids are not in the car?

#3 If they smoke, the children will still be trapped in the home with the same parents that smoke. Is this not just as bad?

#4 they are writting it that they wont stop you for smoking but will fine you once they have you stopped. Shouldnt they be allowed to stop for that if they can for seatbelts?

I just dont understand how they can seperate it like that.

I think they should invoke a "They needed a beating" rule when they see parents smoking in a car with children. Parents that subject their children to his, put their own needs before their children's and should be beaten.

You bring up very good points.... unfortunately someone once told me "Can't Save The World." It doesn't take anything to be parent. They require licenses to catch fish and drive a car...but NOTHING to become a parent. Any idiot can do that.

Let me start by saying I do not smoke.I have a few concerns about laws like this.Smoking is a health issue not a criminal act. Businesses were forced to monitor that no one breaks the no smoking ban or risk fines. Once again this is a public health responsibility in my opinion. The police should not have to monitor this, it should be public health department. The police already are overworked. There was talk a while back about banning smoking in the home if you had children. My concern was how would the authorities monitor this. Would the "police" have the authority to search your house without a warrant? What about the sanctity of the home and an individuals freedomsResidents in nursing homes were told they could no longer smoke in their home. They had to stand outside to enjoy one of the few pleasures they may still enjoy. The laws that would ban smoking in your car with a child as a passenger will allow that same child to stand on a public bus or sit on a school bus without a seatbelt. There is a safety issue at stake in those instances as well .I believe in seatbelts saving lives. Why do they allow people of any age to stand on a subway car or a bus.Profits.Why do we allow people to wear scents in public which trigger asthma attacks.I've been in this situation.Life can be cluttered with so many laws, that common sense takes a back seat.

Where I am they actually debated enforcing that rule because almost 60% of the population here smokes. The paper had TONS of editorials from parents who said it was their right, second hand smoke doesn't kill, etc etc. It was crap.

I quit smoking in sept, and even when I did smoke I would NEVER smoke around a child and I would always ask before lighting up outdoors around someone I knew.

People should use their common sense and just NOT do it!

I hpoe the law is passed!!!

I do not smoke, but just like caffeine while pregnant I do not think it does as much harm as they want u to believe. I mean look at what they say about coffee, illegal immigrants, ISIS, climate change.... the government lies and it is our American RIGHT to choose what we do and do not do. If they are so concerned with smoking being that bad then why not make it illegal to put all the addictive cancer causing ingredients in them so that they are as harmless as a campfire? I think we are all being duped into doing what they want.

I am a smoker and I hope this law gets passed.

Thankfully I am smart enough not to smoke in my vehicle or in my home. I hate the smell of smoke so I never smoked in my home even before I had children.
