I'm just wondering what VD is? I've heard a lot about it and people saying how you can't abbreviate valentines day as VD so I'm just wondering what exactly it is.

Venereal Disease, named after Venus, the godess of love. Nowadays these diseases are called Sexually Transmitted Diseases and are usually, but not always, passed on by sexual contact

VD stands for "Venerial Disease" which is another word for Sexually Transmitted Disease. Its somewhat of a play on words that they abreviate Valentine's Day as VD.

V.D. is short for "venereal disease", an archaic name for sexually transmitted infections. We don't say venereal disease any longer because of the implication that infections acquired through sexual contact are the result of immoral behavior (venery means sin).
