She can download free wedding invitation templates from the Microsoft Office website. They have templates for invitations and rsvp cards at:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/CT101447801033.aspx
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/TC061191581033.aspx?pid=CT101438241033

The templates will automatically open in Microsoft Word. After it opens she can edit text, clip art, pictures, etc. She can also find suggested wording for your invitations at: http://www.verseit.com

I just made some homemade invitations for a birthday party, but you could do it for a wedding. I went to a craft store and found a beautiful paisley print paper I used for the back. I got a pretty off white paper for the invitation. I made up the invitation on MicroWord, and printed them off(you can fit two to a 8.5x11 page) I used a paper cutter to cut the paper. Then I laid the invitation over the paisley paper and using a hole punch, punched two holes in the top. Then I got coordinating ribbon and weaved the ribbon in and out of the holes. Everyone at the party commented on the invitations. They are super easy and cost about $40 for 60 invitations. (without the postage). They took me about 8 hours to make and assemble, but if I had more hands they would have taken no time at all. Good luck!

Making your own invites is actually the easiest and best option for a bride on a budget. I really don't know of any sites, but what I would suggest is looking at any local craft stores that may be offering classes on how to make and do certain things. My sister did this and learned some neat things to do with invitations. They are really easier than you think. I have seen people do some stamping and embossing and it turned out great. Then they just went the Kinkos to make lots of copies of the inserts in the invitations. Another idea is to find card making parties. They are very popular now and may give some good input for you. Hope this helps, good luck!

There is no way to make wedding invitations for FREE. There is cost associated with Do-It-Yourself invitations, just as there are costs for purchasing invitations. You can use a free online template, but take into account these costs:

Card stock/paper for the invitation
Card stock/paper for the RSVP card/reception card + cutting charges
Envelopes that fit the invitation
Envelopes that fit the RSVP card (if not a postcard style)
Printer cartridges (which you may need 2)
YOUR TIME AND ENERGY while trying to plan the rest of your wedding

Hello, yes there is a way. She would need to buy some nice invitation paper though. On Microsoft Office Online, there are templates she can use to create her own wedding invites. All she has to do is download it, for free, and then the template has it so that she can replace their default wording to her own. I used it for my "Save-the-Date" cards. I just bought blank invitation paper where she can find at any stationary story. I got mine 50% off. Woohoo! I am also using the same program to create my wedding invitations later. I will be getting married in June. It is really easy, and if she has a good printer, they will look especially nice. My family thinks mine look professionally done! yay! Good luck to you and your friend and Congrats to her :)

I did engagement announcements by myself and it was VERY easy. Look into different designs at walmart, office depot, hobbly lobby, etc. You can find some nice designs and all you have to do is type what you want to say on your invitation and push print. It's that easy!! Other options include looking at wedding invitations on line. Some are very quick with doing everything for you.

She can go to Staples or AC Moores or other craft type stores and buy invitation card stock there. Then she can go into word and adjust the size to fit to the size of the invitation. The back of the box of invitation card stock gives directions on how to adjust the size in word. From there she can just play around with picking her font size, color, and type until she has something she likes. If she wants some help with wording for her invitaion she can go to many sites, but one I know is jean m essentials (just google that name and the web site comes up) and she can see their ideas for invitations by viewing the styles of invitations they have for sale.

Good luck to your friend!!!!

walmart has invitations for less than $15 for 40 of them. They only have have a few varieties but their cute and simple. The box of invitations has the website in which you do the wording yourself or wording you can choose from) and it is free. You just put the invitations in your printer and your done-simple.

Tell her to go to Walmart, Michaels, or Joann and buy the Wilton invitation kids. They provide a website that has templates made exactly for that particular invitation. Each box of 50 invites (with envelopes, RSVP cards, and RSVP envelopes) is about $14.95.

I don't know of any sites, but I had a friend that got invitations from Walmart that you personalize and print from your computer. They were cute for the price and saved a ton on invitation costs.
