i used to have the same problem, and i tried shaving, trimming, hair removal products but they give no long term results...you should get regular waxes, start off goes every 5-6weeks (or depeding on how fast your hair grows back) after youve been about 4 times you'll really notice the difference.
The hair grows back less corse and theres alot less of it. I hardly get any away from my wax line now, and thoses that do i can just pluck out with tweezers.
Obviously depending on how much hair you have and how fine/thick it is, it will mean you might need more waxes before you notice the difference but it really helps.
in my opinion, and from experience, getting waxes by a professional give much better results in the long term a the know which was to pull the hair, doing it youself will be more painfull as nobody wants to inflict pain on themselves!

Saveourchildren is right. Waxing does hurt really bad. You should buy an electric trimmer and an electric shaver. You won't get red bumps or ingrown hairs if you use products like Bikini Zone. The red bumps are caused by bacteria. You have to clean the shaved area. Then, you have to use a lotion or cream that will prevent infections caused by shaving. My advise is to use an electric shaver with a foil screen instead of a razor if you do shave. You can't cut yourself with an electric shaver.

Just trim it back a little with a small pair of scissors and it won't show outside your underwear. Be careful not to cut yourself. You don't need to wax or shave it. I'm 26 and I have never waxed or shaved myself down there.

well wear darker underwear- white is never good.
you could trim it with scissors- use a mirror and be careful so you don't cut yourself- or shave. Shaving takes some time to get use to and it can be itchy at first...so you don't have to shave it all off- just shave off where it shows out of your underwear.
hope this helps!

Waxing HURTS! Purchase a trimmer that comes with guards, the guards prevent you from getting cut. Most stores carry them. Use these to trim up. Most women have been in your place so don't worry.

id either trim it or use a hair removal cream.
You can try shaving but it is a bit more dangerous make sure you go downwards and use loads of gel.

When you shave your legs, shave your bikini line as well, that way you will avoid embarassment.
